fowler, markov, edler are the 1st 3 and ANA, MTL & VAN would be hurting w/o them. NJ drafted larsson to be that guy and he hasn't developed yet. most cup teams post-lockout have had a clear #1. just because it's difficult doesn't mean there's an excuse for this team's futility in drafting top flight dmen.

In addition, PK is a #1 in the making (#2 for now).

bryz shouldn't have been pulled last nite, but it's not like he's been the rock solid guy we envisioned when he was signed. putting last yrs fiasco behind us, he's really been avg overall. not the biggest problem, but not really a solution.
- isaiah520

Not even close.

That's like arguing that Ray Emery is better than Bryz because he's 10-0. Bryz has been rock solid all year long, but he gets no help from the D or the forwards. Bernie Parent would still have the same GAA as Bryz right now.

iow, i'd be open to a change if other areas like the defense and coaching situation are addressed. i'm ok letting him come back nxt yr, but he'd def be on my short list of buyout candidates at that time. briere is as good as gone and i would make it an imperative to try and move him to avoid having to use a buyout on him this off season.

- isaiah520

I think the last dozen or so games he has been average. But overall Bryzgalov has been far better then average. This team's record would be far worse then it is if not for Bryzgalov. Play a solid team game in front of Bryzalov, and we have the goalie we need.

STOP reversing the puck every time they get the puck in the d zone. I get there are times it's necessary, but they blindly reverse it almost every time. Last night the pens would go hard on the person with the puck in the corner, 2 men.....then they would bring another guy behind the net. Blindly reverse, turnover.

their inability to get the puck deep makes me want to throw stuff. Neutral zone turnover because they either can't make a crisp pass or they can't handle the puck and get it deep.......transition, and scoring opp or goal against.

I've always been a fan of Briere but I am at the end of the line with him. I hate him on the wing. I do think its time to move on from him. that 6.5 cap hit is just brutal for what he is bringing.

and I am sooo close to being on the Lavy must go bus as much as I really like him.

At this point Gus needs to go. Guy can't hold onto the puck for his life.
- KGBflyers10

lol for who? Atleast Gus can log minutes, Foster can't handle 10.

I don't think it's drafting as much as it's developing.

I like Lavy...he has to deal with what he was given
- vejim

And he's done a piss poor job. There's other teams with less talent and ability who don't run around like an undisciplined mess. That's in large part due to poor coaching.

I want to understand why it is that Zac barely played in the second period after being, possibly, the most noticable player on the ice for the Flyers.

The team came out flat in the second period. Zac is an energy guy and has really improved his game over the course of the season. Why is it that the team struggled to get going in the second and yet a guy that helps to provide a spark couldn't find his way onto the ice?

Bryz has no confidence right now. I think he's lost faith in team in front of him and more importantly I think he's lost faith in the coach. He had a tantrum a few practices back, played well against the Caps and Sens, but is back to looking shaky.

Watching his body language, he seems like he's not buying into Lavy's philosophy. That's trouble.

4-1 going into the intermission and I said to my wife.. If the Pens score early in the 2nd we lose this game. For the record, I am not, nor am I distantly related to, Nostradamus.

They are very... predictable.

Rock solid all year long? What have you been watching? And believe me, I stand up for Bryz when everyone blames him for every loss. But he has been dreadful for about 3 weeks now.

Pissed me off to be honest. The guy was busting his ass, throwing hits, winning battles.. crashing the net... and he didnt see a lick of time till half way through the period... poor coaching.

Time for Homer to fire him. LAvy was great with the 09/10 and 10/11 roster but obviously not this one. There's been zero jam all year.

There's only so much he can do. I mean, imagine if a coach had a decent team. then lost key players like a reigning Norris winner, a top-10 league scorer, a 35-goal scorer, and a goalie who was on Vezina pace. How could any coach make that team a playoff contender?

Not True at all, For Bryz if you go back in every game he has played this year has given up at least one soft goal and usually at the most inopportune time which totally changes the momentum of the game. I do not buy that he is tired either as he is a professional athlete that is paid to play hockey. The fourth goal the Pens scored was bad. He needs to be able to steal games for us right now and is not doing that at all. I believe he gets one more year and if it remains the same he is gone(crazy buyout but has to happen).

The coaching has been bugging me for sometime. I'm hesitant to call for a change. That said, I think it's time.

And I'm not absolving the GM. He'll be going on his third coach if he fires Laviolette. The next change would be him.

i'm ready to move on too, but i don't think making a change now will make any difference or save the season or turn them into contenders. they need some personnel change on the ice in some key spots. not going to happen overnight.

The start of the 2nd period wasn't the time to shorten the bench. It's the time to roll 4 lines and check. If the Flyers were taught to, and had the element in their system play that Pittsburgh played and has in their arsenal, after the go ahead goal in the 3rd period. The game would have all been over. Same thing in the Rangers game. And we'd be looking at 3 points gained in the standings, versus 0 points gained.
