Looking scary, a couple more losses and the fight back looks dim. Any quick fixes to turn this around or do they set their sights on the draft and start planning for next season? |

I have no idea what to expect for this... The logical choice is blowout loss, but you never know what to expect from this team.
I'll actually wake up at 10 am for this, dont let me down boys |

As a pure hockey fan, Flyer games are on the top of my list this year for pure entertainment. The games are a delight to watch. The young players have great skill and they are going to get better. The come back victory over the Pens a couple of weeks ago was unbelievable. The loss to the Pens a couple of nights ago was just as wild. The ups and downs of this team are phenomenal.
This team will get better with experience and you need to have some patience. Short term, the only improvements as quick fixes might be the rental of a #1 D (like a Brian Campbell) and the acquisition of a good back up goaltender.
I think Bryzgalov has been good. But he is overworked and tired and has started to give up a few soft goals because of the fatigue. Weak goals kill the spirit and confidence, especially of a young team. |

It porbably won't be blowout, but on the other hand I expect boring loss. We will attack our lowest shot total all time (14?) |

The only weak goal I can remember from this season was the longshot vs Sens. And he still managed to win this game.. |

Are you looking at the standings? The flyers are 3 pts from the bottom of the league with games in hand. You don't blow the team up. But they should be in sell mode very soon. 48 game season I'm not angry. But picking up a Campbell or a first Bc that's what he'll cost will make me very angry. The flyers need to get a pick/prospect for Danny and see about moving kimmo if he wants a cup run.
What's with these lines. Are they really going with that 2nd line again? They need read to switch with Briere to balance things out |

Fair comment. I don't disagree. Early in the season he was playing at an outstanding level and stole points for the team. More recently you have not seen the exceptional save at key moments. And, you do wonder if he might have stopped a few of those shots had it been earlier on in the season. |

I don't think they should blow up anything. I think they need to stabilize the back end. I do not believe they are out of the playoff hunt. |

If I'm Danny, I'm not going anywhere. Just because JR moved out of the way for Forsberg doesn't mean that everyone is so magnanimous. The team on the ice today is about as complete as we have had most of the season. This team isn't even as good as last year, so I don't know why expectations are so high. If this is as bad as it gets for the Flyers and we can make adjustments this offseason, I will take this step back to move forward. This team is a #1 D Man away and a top 6 winger from being real good. And sorry, I love Gagne, but Kubes and Gagne and even McGinn or Harry Z aren't going to get it done. |

One thing about this season is you can be the worst team in the league and only be 3 games out of a playoff spot.
There's a decent chance that the worst team in the league may only be 5 games out of a playoff spot by the end of the year.
Columbus could be in the playoff race until the final 2 weeks of the season and still end up with the worst record in the league. Then again so could the Flyers.
The trade deadline could be interesting because there won't be a team in the league that will be eliminated or more than a 4 game winning streak from being a playoff team. |

Lavy needs to put Danny at center with two strong defensive minded players.
Hartnell-G-Jake
Read-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne-Danny-Talbot
Fedotenko-Couts(has not played well, needs a bump down a line to take some pressure off him)-Rinaldo |

Campbell is just Spatso's #1 defenseman flavor of the day. Every day he posts another defenseman that the Flyers are going to get. Yesterday it was Doughty.
And Campbell wouldn't be a rental, as he has 3 more years on his deal after this year. |

Bryz was great in Phoenix when he played a lot. He's just over worked because our D is like Swiss cheese half the time, albeit injured often.
To get Campbell, we'd have to shed salary. Briere isn't going anywhere willingly, so he would have to be bought out. Unfortunately, he seems to save himself for the playoffs every year and just be mediocre during the season.

Wouldn't they need to she'd some salary like buying out Danny? And we would have to give up something to get something. He's got a good number of years left on his deal. |

I edited my post. They have the Cap space for this Season, but they do not have the tagging space to add Campbell for the remaining years on his deal, so yes they'd have to shed salary. Which makes Campbell just another fantasy suggestion.

The trade deadline will be less interesting this year since teams aren't as far back. Just seems like there will be less sellers so the available players will be at a premium. Heck, we might be sellers by then and it might make sense if we could get a good premium on someone. |

Not sure if I'm goin to watch this game. Nice day, not sure I want to waste it on a team that doesn't put in a full game effort. Blame the coach, blame the players it doesn't matter they are a weak team.
I could deal with a team that just wasn't good but always played a full game. This team I have a hard time watching. Done with the excuses.
Hate to sound so negative, but this team is frustrating. |
