I know others see it differently but I'd play out the entire season and if the team misses the playoffs, Make a change in the offseason. Let the new coach have a full training camp to make changes. - Hextall271
Thats also an option. |

Wasn't Murray the coach for the LA Kings last year before getting fired? - stveshdy
Yes. He also coached the Caps, Flyers and Panthers, too. Laviolette was fired by the Isles and Hurricanes. Don't see the point. |

with how hot the kings were at the end of last season even a high school coach would have won the cup |

I'm just suggesting that style can hurt any coach. No guarantee Murray fixes the problem if hired.
Murray himself was fired by LA for underachieving. |

That statement suggest that coaching is overrated. |

we need the new coach before the draft so we know what types of players he likes - 2Real
The day after the season ends ( assuming no deep playoff run) then I make the switch. |

Lets say they do make the change your suggesting. What if the Flyers bring in Murray and they still continue to play the same way? What do they do next? - stveshdy
One of the key reasons I'd hire Murray is because hiring him as an interim coach doesn't mean that I'm tied to him for the next 3 years, which would be the case with Lindy Ruff.
It gives me time to look at other candidates-including Murray-and make an informed decision on a coach and on which players are willing to buy in and adapt to a coach who demands accountability and discipline.
That gives me a much better idea of not only what kind of coach I want, it also shows me which players I can count on to adapt and fit with the ultimate direction the team would be taking. |

Murray has shown, over his career, that he's not married to any single style, which was why I rehashed the offensive performance of the teams he's coached. |

The Flyers have a current coach whos style has proven to work and win a stanley cup. Now we may disagree that his style doesn't work with this team or he missed the playoffs multiple times. I'm more concerned about what direction the organization wants to go at this point. Right now it doesn't matter on the coach until they address what style their looking for. |

I am willing to move ANYBODY if it improves the team. I don't have an untouchable. There's guys I'd want massive returns for, but nobody is untouchable |

When you say massive does that mean that teams would have to give up the moon for those players? Or we talking realistic here with a real chance of trading? |

Obviously. So right now today they must like the style of Lavi b/c hes still behind the bench. |

As a wannabe GM, that is exactly what I would be doing in the off-season, regardless of a coaching change. |

Do you have any confidence inthis organization being able to bring in someone as an interim coach?
Or is it much more likely whoever replaces Lava is given a 2 year extension almost immediately. |
