but haven't you heard, trading or signing them as UFAs is really the same ? at least that's what i read here...

Haha...
I think we have seen the difference in the Weber and Parise/Suter situations. There's no chance of striking out if you can develop players.

That is crazy putting those numbers up with that franchise.
- PLindbergh31

I loved the kid, he seemed to have a really great attitude.

At the same time, he is on a hot streak.

A guy like Mike Smith puts up decent numbers in Phoenix but I think on most other teams he would be lit up.

let's not jump to any conclusions. let's wait until the SCF are over so we know what kind of team were gonna try to be like

Trading him and then using the pick acquired to draft a goalie was kinda stupid.

I honestly think it goes beyond that, to the owner. Not that he's the problem, but his impatience with things can be a negative at times.
- feelingkettle

Extremely negative. But his impatience stems from the team's philosophy continually changing and chasing it's own tail year to year. That to me means the GM.

The owner has merely given Homer the tools, Holmer has to do the building.

That doesn't fly when the owner comes out and publicly orders the GM to "fix" the goaltending.

Totally agree
I like Laughton but to think we could've added Maata and Thrower in our 1st 2 rounds last draft hurts... instead we got a guy who will be a good 3rd line center, and a likely NHL Backup...

A little bit of a pet peeve to me is developing those guys, hanging all the hopes of the organization on team, giving them long term deals, and then sending their ass out.

Either dont give out such long term deals, find better supporting casts, or better identify which players should be your core in the first place.

That is what this season was for me. To identify who should be a part of the core. I have questions about the "solid young core" this team has.

Again, these have been problems the Flyers have had for years, even before Homer. Homer has more positives than negatives, and I would be concerned that it would be hard to get a better GM than him, and much easier to get a worse one. Besides, if they hire someone in house again, how much would actually change, besides possibly the drafting getting worse?

When Columbus loses, it's not because they got outcoached. They've lost a bunch in a row to Chicago, not the Devils.

At least Couturier is light years ahead in his development than Hamilton is.

Which at the same time, I never saw this coming.

The situation we have had with Bryzgalov over the last two seasons. Sure Phoenix runs a tighter defensive scheme, but I never expected the poop show we have seen from Bryzgalov so far.

I been behind his corner long enough but he doesn't give you the bang for the buck. I wanted the Flyers to sign him but anything over four years I would of passed on that contract.

couts looking like a kid who needs to sit or get time in the A...don't know if he's hurt, but he looks, slow, weak and off kilter right now. could be a classic soph slump or...nah...can't be...did they rush him? nah...forget it.

As bleak as everything looks. The situation can be mended.

I do believe they have some solid pieces with Giroux, Hartnell, Simmonds, Read and Voracek.

Grossman and Luke Schenn can provide some stability here as well.

To me? The rest of them are really expendable under the right deal.

The next guy will be great. Lavi can't make adjustments. Reminds me of Andy Reid.

It's sort of unbelievable. He hasn't been awful, but he has been inconsistent.

He's also got no luck whatsoever.

Couturier was terrific last year. This year not so much. Takes D-man much longer time to develop. Hamilton is struggling mightily for the Bruins.
