I would rather have L Schenn than Carle's bloated contract. By the way Carle has the second worst +/- on the Lightning this year. - Feanor
rather have carle and JVR combo |

He's been a godsend for TB. Has really anchored their backend. |

honestly, look at the defense
Timmonen-Coburn
Kimmo aged terribly, and Coburn hasn't looked this bad in his entire time being here.
terrible first pairing
Grossmann-Schenn
Love both of these guys, but together they are two of the same, all defense no offense.
Schenn still needs to learn how to not take himself out of position, but these two guys are great, just not together.
The third pairing has been so bad, it makes the combination of Smith-Modry looks reliable.
Meszaros' injury screwed things up majorly, but his injury doesn't make Kimmo look lost, or Coburn regress as much as he has. - the deaninator
you've clearly shown that the D is no factor in the flyers record this year

I think changes will be made on defense this offseason. |

It's ashame the Flyers were contenders last season b/c they could of probably landed a decent return for him. Instead he walked away and we got nothing. |

i'm afraid OEL has crossed the rubicon into untouchableville - isaiah520
You may be right. Usually the Norris nominees are the guys who have the best second half to their season. Last year, at the half way point, some of us said Karlsson was a candidate for the Norris, most people laughed. This year the dark horse candidate is OEL. For it to happen, Phoenix needs to make playoffs and OEL needs to lead Dmen in scoring. |

This year I hope they dont fool themselves and believe they have a chance. We should be sellers at the deadline. |

I'm not going to say that his defense hasn't made mistakes. It certainly has. A good team needs more then one stay at home physical defensive defenseman. Look at the LA Kings last year. They had Matt Greene and Willie Mitchell. Key players on that team. And Grossmann and Schenn don't play together. Schenn play with Timonen and Coburn with Grossmann for the most part. When you have a team that play very poor team defense, and doesn't support each other on the ice, this is what happens to marginal 3rd pair defenseman such as Gervais. Thye get exposed, because they don't have the ability to overcome that that top defenseman have. So in my opinion, fix the team game, fix the issues with turnovers, bad coverages, bad line changes. And play a solid team game defensively. And then judge this defense. Defense is a very difficult position to play even with solid team play in front of it.
Same for the goaltender. He is not Dominik Hasek who can stand on his head game after game and perform miracles.

Your asking for a miracle with Lavi behind the bench. Nothing is going to change b/c he won't make those adjustments. |

MJL I so hope you are right about this being about the coach and not the players.
Because the opposite is too hard to fix, and would just suck.

I firmly believe in the players on this team. And the future is still as bright as it was thought to be before this Season started. That's not to say that the roster doesn't need tweaking, because it does. But there is too much talent on this team to be this mediocre.

The offer sheet to Weber was all or nothing. Unfortunately, they lost all their chips. |

Remember, if the Preds had not matched it would have cost the Flyers 4 1st round picks. Maybe, this was the best result after all. |

You not going to this one? - ob18
I don't think so. It's in Xfinity live and we're all in one session, so I don't see it being as easy to hear. Actually, I expect it to be a poop show with a lot of unhappy people shouting down Homer and Lava. It won't be like a couple of years ago when some guy was really belligerent in the Luuko session so when we got to Homer, Paul stalked, glowered, and took off his jacket to intimidate the guy into silence. Then politely answered everyone else's questions. |

I would rather have Weber. You don't know how those first round picks are going to turn out. What I do know is your getting the best defenseman in the league in his prime.
Also, if the Flyers continue their usual success those picks are late 1st round selections. |

Flyers have Giroux and Voracek in their prime years now, Schenn and Couts about 1-2 years away.
Having a Weber in his peak years now would have been great.
