That's not why the Hawks lost. Oilers took it to 'em, so I give credit where it's due. Just commenting that I saw at least 3 blatant holds that weren't called, especially after Leddy got whistled for the same thing on Eberle, which was far less egregious. - eburgio
yeah but there was that blatant hand goal... |

NO. We want to be 502-0-2.
I don't think I speak for the whole lot of us, but I was worried the Hawks team (specifically PK) from last two years would show up at some point and here she be. They got punched in the mouth on Friday and this was how they respond? |

It didn't touch his hand. The overhead angle at the UC, showed it hit brookbank in the right shoulder. |

Neither have we. So you want to win games by having the Refs call a game in your favor? Spoiled fans, wasn't the 80's enough for you? |

Come on, you know the calls have been going the way of the Hawks most of the season.
Things even out, now the Hawks have to learn how to repsond when calls and bounces don't go their way every game. |

A 24 game point and 11 game win streak isn't agreeable to you??
Try losing 5 in a row, the last two 3-0 and 6-0 shellackings and then talk to me. |

Anyway you look at it...the Blackhawks appear to be starting a stretch of garbage hockey.
I'm not surprised in the least...the point streak was the surprise! ...and a fluke in my opinion.
My guess is the Hawks lose at least 12 games by seasons end...end up the 3 or 4 seed in the west...gone in the first or second round.
Unless SB improves the club by the deadline...and, the club enters the post season healthy...then they have a shot at reaching the finals. |

Oil entered action tonight without a goal in 8 periods...
Leave it to the Hawks to snap them out of it...
...and what is it with the Oil and the Hawks? Last few years the Oil carves us up in 3 out of every 4 matches...just brutal hockey.
My Stanley Cup-o-meter is pointing to the Bruins at this point of the season...
...and my Hawks-o-meter is sensing a first round exit...yet again.

Slumps happen. Remember how bad the hawks were defensively the last month of the season in 2010? I'm sure the rest will help them. Wouldn't surprise me if they get the next two days off to clear their heads. |

The streak was great--but, seriously, the team is very similar to the team that almost--but didn't--beat Phoenix in the playoffs last year. In other words, the team is very similar to the teams that got knocked out in the first round the last two years. They play a lot of tight games--can totally dominate for stretches, but they are usually playing a lot of very close games. Tonight is now another one goal game. Goaltending and PK--until the last two games--are the big difference between this year and the last few. We'll see what happens--but as folks were pointing out, as much fun as the streak is (was), it's going to end, and they'll have to play the rest of the season, and it really won't matter if they don't do well in the playoffs. I think Boston and the Ducks can both give the Blackhawks a lot of trouble--thought so during the streak and still think so.
I sure hope we don't have another losing streak like last year witnessed. If there's any silver lining, they did come back--unlike the debacle in Edmonton last year that really sent them into a tailspin. Let's hope this is, as someone else said, part of the hangover from the streak--but, even if it is, they still play a lot of one goal games that can go either way.

Observations from the cheap seats:
-some one needs to let the hawks know what time the game starts so they can show up for the first period. What a nightmare.
-I really like Shaw, but he can't be the only one trying push back out there.
-Put a friggin body in front of the net. Please!
-I want to see Taylor Hall traded to Vancouver. What a d!ck.
-We don't need to blow it up, but we do need to fill the hole left by Sharpie and quit juggling lines.
EDIT: forgot to confirm the SH!TTY reffing. It was terrible. |

No pouting here, the Hawks were on their heels the whole first period.
..until now the PK, and goaltending, has been effective regardless of the legitimacy of the calls. When the puck finds the back of the net regularly no one is happy. |
