Hawks lost because of the following:
Flat first period....like the they were in haze. Got caught standing still and not stepping in front of the Oilers the whole period. Sloppy puck control as well leaving the Oilers to play in the Hawks zone the whole period.
Couldn't stay out of the box. The key to beating the Oilers is keeping them off the pp. Hawks gave up 3 pp goals tonight.
It's two games so I'm not ready to be in freak out mode but..........seems like the hawks old bad habits have awaken. - UnnamedSource
Me either and mostly because it's 2 losses against 2 teams who seem to give them fits. As bad as tonight's game was defensively the Hawks were virtually putting on a clinic when compared to a few of last year's blowout losses to the Oilers. Those games had the feel like the Hawks were the Washington Generals stepping out on the court against the Globetrotters.
Hopefully they get some rest and come out energized against CBJ. |

Bob you wear it on your sleeve everyday...not being absurd, but your emotions and frustrations as a Hawk fan. You are well grounded. |

So this is a union and I have to just go along with the dialogue no matter how absurd it is. I don't know why if I am so dumb why some of you can not ignore the comments, or other times actually address my claims with your own counter punch.
We just need a nice echo chamber so we all feel better...safety in numbers. - TrueGrit
No, not at all. I welcome other people's opinions and it's why I come back here. I may not agree, but I don't crap all over them. If someone doesn't toe the line with the same thoughts as yours, they're morons. |

Have to say how shocked I am at a lot of the crap I am reading here tonight. Someone help me out and direct me to the website that lays out the proper way to lose a game. I know I should just log out and move on, but really, now we are the same team that lost last year, Everyone afraid we can't kill penalties.
This is the Freaking NHL. The parity from top to bottom, the margin is hair thin. And a bad hop or an off shift and it shrinks or blows up in your face. That is the nature of the game.
A visit to a childrens hospital is more uplifting than most of you guys. For Gods Sake.
The wisdom of the board last few games is we need to learn from Colorado and Edmonton. Two teams that will likely not even make the playoffs. Here is a little clue guys. Both of those teams are trying to be the Hawks. The Hawks just ran off 24 with a point. I know it is all a mirage.
Anyways, lets hurry up and trade our roster and become like Phoenix so we are a little more physical and maybe we make the playoffs every few years. They you can get all those crucial body checks. Hey did you see faceoff stat tonight. Dominiated, we even won one clean and still gave up a goal. And Edmonton made 3 body checks all night.
The reality of it all is when the Hawks woke up and got engaged they carried the play for 2nd and 3rd period. Crawford made a couple of big saves to keep the game in reach.
Jamal Mayers needs to no dress anymore. It is like watching my dad come out and try to play baskeball with me and my buddys.
Call up Morin or Smith and find an energy guy for bottom six that has energy. - TrueGrit
I hear ya--you're right, Colorado and Edmonton might be giving the Blackhawks trouble now, but won't be in the playoffs in all likelihood. That being said, c'mon, you have to admit, the Blackhawks could have lost quite a few of those games during the streak--and then folks would indeed have been making comparisons to the team that lost to Phoenix. I think getting Brookbank and Rosival were improvments, but at the end of the day, the team is pretty similar.
The streak will go down as one of the better memories in four decades of watching the Blackhawks--but I don't have illusions about the team. Didn't during the streak either. They're a good team--and so are quite a few others playing too. Don't look now, but the Kings are playing better, the Blues look better over the last week. We'll find out come late April . . . . |

+1 Need energy guy who actually has and provides energy....Jamal is battling but clearly not on top of his game. Think father time has stepped in... - TrueGrit
Ditto! Just said this the other day; he just doesn't seem to have anything left tin the tank.
As far as a replacement was watching the Caps today to pay attention to your guy Hendricks. Need to see more as this wasn't a great game for the Caps. Their whole team looks really slow. Brouwer was probably their best player today. |

They need another forward who can kill penalties and win draws on the PK, sooner or later. - John Jaeckel
I know I have been taking the other side of this argumet about trds making that big of difference.
But yes..even during the streak...their faceoff numbers are not getting it done. So I agree with you....but I don't know who or for who they can fill that hole with out creating another hole. |

I could care less about a high energy guy. Hawks game is puck possession.....what helps puck possession? Winning face offs. |
