3 days off just might help this team get the delusions of granduer out of their minds that his strk put there.
But you could look at it this way...just 3 periods of "ice in their face" wake-up call.
Periods 2 and 3 vs aves and 1st period tonight (9 GA in that time frame)! Now maybe that emotional swoon is over! |

I hear ya--you're right, Colorado and Edmonton might be giving the Blackhawks trouble now, but won't be in the playoffs in all likelihood. That being said, c'mon, you have to admit, the Blackhawks could have lost quite a few of those games during the streak--and then folks would indeed have been making comparisons to the team that lost to Phoenix. I think getting Brookbank and Rosival were improvments, but at the end of the day, the team is pretty similar.
The streak will go down as one of the better memories in four decades of watching the Blackhawks--but I don't have illusions about the team. Didn't during the streak either. They're a good team--and so are quite a few others playing too. Don't look now, but the Kings are playing better, the Blues look better over the last week. We'll find out come late April . . . . - AL SEC0RD
The only thing I will point out is that you assume everything is static. That is all the players they have are what they were a year ago. The experience the players, not only situationally, but emotionally from having that huge slump and bouncing back despite injuries and playing a solid second half is really big to me. All players grow and improve year to year.
The team had a bad PK tonight and it cost them the game.
Regarding close games, look how many 1 goal games Columbus and others have lost. There are no style points. To me, picking apart wins based upon luck is really spending a ton of time looking for something to complain about. I watch games around the league each night and in this day and age, no lead is safe. It is a fast game and if you blink, things change fast.
Anyhow, I think the small tweaks were all that was needed. I am not a dreamer like some who won't be happy until we get a team canada roster. The Hawks need a little help personell wise, but lets be honest, their list of wants is smaller than most everyone elses. While some placed the blame on CC for the loss in playoffs, I am more in the camp that your PP, with all the talent they have was the bigger problem, As bad as the two goals were he gave up, he kept his team in game with chance to win all series. Not trying to open a can of worms with anyone here, that is my opinion. We all love our big horses, well those big horses have to find ways to play big in big games and put the puck in the net.
Anyhow, always love seeing Big Al's picture there. The hawks will be fine and have a small list of things to work on. |

Totally agree; could use some tweaking not an overhaul. The core's set they're not adding any all stars unless it's a rental or comparable salary is shipped out. |

Just had a chance to catch some of the gme on replay. Ok...the hwks pk took a vacation tonight and Edm team will continue to be a botton dweller in WC. They have talent...but stay off the PK with this team and they will get beaten like a dead horse gme after gme. I see nothing in their team gme and they make the hwks look like the Bruins in physical play. Bad nite at the office..the hwks were primed and teed up with the strk ending in Denver and Edm rug rats took adv while the hwks obliged by playing down to their level. 7 gmes in 11 nites. 3 days off will help. Let's move on...nothing here! |

When you go back there could you tell Jerry to return Mrs. Choate's marble rye? |

Gotta love America. We spent millions of dollars developing a pen that would write in zero gravity. The Russians used a pencil. |

Not going to overreact about the game tonight but I really didn't like/agree with Q's decision to start Emery. I expected CC to get the start and try to rebound from the COL game but Q started Ray (who's looked shaky in his past few starts) instead and he wasn't on his game at all. Can't give up that Mike Brown goal, just can't. CC wasn't very sharp either but I think if he had started it'd be a different story.
Regardless they can't keep coming out flat which has been a trend the past 2-3 weeks, no team is going to win many games after being down 4-0 in the 1st. On a positive note, way to fight back and not give up after the 1st period.
Let's start a new winning streak on Thursday. |

1. Checking stats...the hwks blew away the Oil in faceoffs win...boy that changed everything didn't it. I guess we can take the night off from b!!!tch'en and and whine'n about faceoff stats.
2. How about this every Blackhawks except Bickell, Shaw and Frolik was a minus one in the first period. 15 minus ones in the first period! Didn't matter who was on the ice for the Hawks in the first...equal opp stink!
3. Funny how this works: superb out of this world PK for 24 gmes and then allow 5 goals in 9 pk's the next 2 gmes. |

good points...i was surprised Em got the start to. The Brown goal is what happens when you get lazy in your zone with turnovers and not getting the clear at least on 2 attempts. |

just curious for some opinions: this team is tired & needs rest, agreed??
but with the deadline coming up, if there is a deal with the sens, with the center pieces being the beloved stalberg + going that way , & zach smith & chris neil coming back this way, does this make us a harder team to play against?? yes/ no? |
