Maybe Frolik would bring enough speed to make that line interesting? - EKolb13
>Agreed, would rather see how Frolik does there than #29
>Would leave lines 1 and 3 intact
>Think #16 would also be a good fit there at LW on line 2
>The line to "mess with" is line 4
>Q certainly has had the team playing incredibly with Hitch's description of "5 Hawks in the picture" puck support both offensively and defensively
>Hopefully, he will push all the right buttons in line combos |

Looks like Versteeg is on the market as Tallon has decided Flrida will not make the playoffs
He's 26 and had 54 points last year
Any interest JJ?
Maybe the 4 million is too high |

Steeg's another right winger, we've got plenty of those. Pass |

I may be in the minority here, but I think it is prime season for a big trade, some big name going and some names comming back. The mid point just passed, so there is still time for the team to gel with new players. There is also a cushion in the division. We all know what the weaknesses are in this team, and you would think that if we the fans know, then the great Scotty Bowman knows. The attitude needs to be "We are out of the playoffs looking in". If the team thinks they are in, they are done. |

I wouldn't mind this. He can be defensively responsible when he feels like it. I see three issues though:
1) He's primarily a RW and we're overloaded with those. If he can be an effective LW, that's fine.
2) He would have to go over the summer. No big issue for me.
3) Would Stan think of him as one of Tallon's boys? If Stan and McD are trying to win THEIR cup out of Dale's shadow, would they want to reacquire someone from the past? |

While he brings some skill and speed and knows Quenneville's system, he's still a giveaway machineand does't address the Hawks needs. |

Would love to see Steeger back in the Indian Head but as New mentions lots of factors against it...most notably #3.
Doubt Stan would bring one of Dale's guys in. But what kind of effect would it have on the dressing room having one of the Cup guys back for the run?
Steeger against Eaves...I believe Sharpie won this game in a shootout at the Joe.

Still one of the better scraps Ive seen in a couple years. Versteeg is a tough SOB. But he will also turn pucks over and be too fancy at times

I forgot about that angle. Given that Kane seems to be behaving at night as far as we know, do we want to import temptation? |

>JJ, general question: With the new CBA, can teams acquire players via trade without having to pay the entire salary, like baseball? (Team trading the player eats some salary.)
>Never heard the "final" on that proposal
>If so, the upcoming trading in the NHL could become very interesting |

4-2 Oil, including an empty netter.
Prove me wrong boys. - Ogilthorpe2
They will. The Hawks are coming off a game where they got torched. Unlike the Oilers the Hawks can get pissed off when they lose.
Also the Oilers a reeling in a bad way. This 9 game road trip was make it or break it for them and it has broken them. |

Lots of fans dressed as empty seats again today in "HockeyTown" Detroit. They haven't scored a goal in a long while.
As frustrating as the Blackhawks games against Columbus were, Columbus is not a bad team--very hard working, getting decent goaltending. Kind of pulling for them to get better.
Brassard just scored too--is he still available? |

If Tallon is selling I wouldn't mind getting Marcel Goc. He can win draws and be a good 4th line center....I'd possibly think about Upshall but that contract has maybe one year too much for my liking.... |

Versteeg has ability and he needs a good stable situation. Since the Hawks dealt him his career has been all over the place...literally and figuratively.
Leafs, Flyers, FLA...bad and directionless, good, bad and confused
If he's fortunate he'll end up with a team with a plan and a purpose. |

Goc or Smithson would be solid and affordable option for the 4th line. Rather than pay for Versteeg I'd rather re-sign Stalberg. That was the best trade Stan made during the purge, it will be a shame to see Viktor go this summer. |

Matt Hendricks....like a broken record I will be saying this. Keep Brassard.
And yes Columbus is not a bad team. |

Goc would play higher than the 4th line on this team. He plays 17 minutes a night on average.
I hope Stan has made an inquiry about him. Would be a solid, affordable add. |

Was it Hendricks or Beagle that was a total stud last year against Boston in the first round? I recall one of them taking a majority of faceoffs during that series. |
