a point is a point...as long as the goal is going in it doesn't matter if you score it or assist on it. just thought it was funny seeing their stats. - nastyflyergirl
True, True.... I was shocked that a hit thrown by JVR injured Malkin. WTF is going on? Shouldn't that be the other way around? |

He's been fine defensively, IMO but I want his offensive game to develop. I think he'll start to pick it up playing with Gagne and Read. He's never played with wingers as talented before. I hated seeing him on the 4th line on Saturday. That couldn't help his growth or confidence. - NickTheKid87
I keep seeing defensive lapses in his game this season. He seems to be ok some games but if I notice that it's your man who scored (had the breakaway, etc) or you consistently seem to be out of possition then it has to be glaringly obvious... Cuz I'm not Jsaq over here... |

the JVR from the Boston series. said it the min the trade went down. loved picking up Schenn but hated that it was JVR. I defended him from the min people ripped him for not coming out of college. it cracks me up how so many people wanted him gone over the last few years but now are female doging about it |

I think Pronger had touched on something when he said Consistancy was our biggest issue and that it was different guys making the mistakes.
I don't think we make the playoffs this year. This team is not where it needs to be for that. As crazy as it may sound (to Philly Fans) I think if we finish up this year without too many changes and jump into next with the same team... I think we could very well go deep into the playoffs. We are a young team and Young teams are incosistant. The Ducks had this issue with their D last year and this year they are playing lights out. Let the youngsters develop. Keep the Vets (for the most part) and keep the Coaches and give it til next year.
But for those who want to tank for draft picks and jettison all our vets, how is that working for Edmonton & the Isles? Lotsa great draft picks with nobody teaching how to win? This team already has a ton of youth. Let them develop. - flyler
I agree, but tweaks will be needed, mostly in regards to the style they play and the mix on the blueline. Next years D looks like this:
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossmann
Meszaros-Gustafsson/Manning/Bourdon/Kessel/etc.
I wouldn't mind if they looked to move one of Schenn Grossmann or Coburn (preferably Coburn) in order to get a puck mover. No offense to any of those guys but I don't really think we need 3 guys would do pretty much the exact same thing. I think Gus has shown enough to at least be the 7th dman.

I agree, he hasn't been as consistent defensively but that probably has something to do with his lack of confidence right now. He's seemed fine on the PK at least. |

I'm willing to give the trade a chance. My gut tells me when the smoke clears it won't end up being a good one, but the Flyers traded from an area of strength to address a weakness. They sold low on him imo. He had just come off an injury riddled season. |

everyone knows briere is gone. bryz's sv % for his tenure here is ~ .903. he is certainly a candidate for a buyout if an alternative becomes available. he hasn't been good enuf this yr either. homer might be forced to go one more yr with him, but it should not be interpreted as anything more than lacking better alternatives until the nxt off season. - isaiah520
Heres a trade to help both teams. To edmonton brygalof wayne simmonds braydon schenn and luke. To philly choice of khabulin or dubnyk for cap space and contract ease. Ales hemsky and eric belanger and nick shultz. Both teams address needs. Clearly in cap and contract lengths philly is in a good place moving forward. Were not gonna get rid of the brisgolof problem easily and saving the buyout is crucial |

I'm happy with Schenn. its just a shame they didn't have another chip to move instead. |

Yep. Schenn has exceeded my expectations thus far. He's played well. If he can continue to improve it will be a trade that benefits both teams. |

GO HOME CLOUTIER - NickTheKid87
LOL! I was gonna say... If a trade like that went down, it would make this season look like a championship run year...
I'm sorry to whoever the poster if for that, but you're straight-up an idiot when it comes to hockey logic and trading assets. Sorry, not to be offensive, but that trade proposal is just flat out stupid lol. |

Haha, yeah. Not exactly sure as to what the logic is there, or how that would help us in ANY way.
Honestly, with all this trade talk, I don't even think Edmonton has anything outside of Jordan Eberle that could help the Flyers. And as discussed before, the potential asking price is essentially digging one hole to fill another.
At this point in the season, keep the team we have and let's try and get on a roll. A major trade won't do anything at this point I don't think. |

I think brisgolof goes best with a strong red wine to offset any earthy tones if it's undercooked.
/makes about as much sense as that trade proposal

Briere at wing is a disaster and Hartnell is doing jack playing on the top line.
Moving Briere back to center with Gagne with Hartnell on the off wing (like the 2010 playoffs/2011 season) may be worth a try.

Yeah Ebs is too much and we don't need him right now. I would love Justin Schultz but he's going nowhere.
