Heres a trade to help both teams. To edmonton brygalof wayne simmonds braydon schenn and luke. To philly choice of khabulin or dubnyk for cap space and contract ease. Ales hemsky and eric belanger and nick shultz. Both teams address needs. Clearly in cap and contract lengths philly is in a good place moving forward. Were not gonna get rid of the brisgolof problem easily and saving the buyout is crucial

I didnt know you could spell bryzgalov in so many ways....

the JVR from the Boston series. said it the min the trade went down. loved picking up Schenn but hated that it was JVR. I defended him from the min people ripped him for not coming out of college. it cracks me up how so many people wanted him gone over the last few years but now are female doging about it
- nastyflyergirl

wait till the luster of the new team wears off........Anyway if he stayed here i dont think he plays at this level....he need the trade it was a rude awakening for him.

Briere at wing is a disaster and Hartnell is doing jack playing on the top line.
Moving Briere back to center with Gagne with Hartnell on the off wing (like the 2010 playoffs/2011 season) may be worth a try.

Kind of agree at this point.

They've got to get something out of Briere. He's getting lost on the wing.

Haha, yeah. Not exactly sure as to what the logic is there, or how that would help us in ANY way.

Honestly, with all this trade talk, I don't even think Edmonton has anything outside of Jordan Eberle that could help the Flyers. And as discussed before, the potential asking price is essentially digging one hole to fill another.

At this point in the season, keep the team we have and let's try and get on a roll. A major trade won't do anything at this point I don't think.

The Justin Schultz part was the only thing coming to the Flyers that would help. He's not available. They need MORE D help, they don't have assets on D.

Josh actually said NICK Schultz. Don't know if he got confused and meant Justin or not. Benefit of the doubt?

His system is a system that needs two things. The proper mix of players. And it needs to have a very high level of effort, energy, and skating to be effective. It's very difficult for any team to play that way long term. That is why it is sink or swim with Laviolette. Most good Coaches are adaptable and make adjustments to their personel. And the best systems are multi faceted. Laviolette's is not. There is only one element to it that is key. And that is ultra aggressive posture all over ther ice, especially on the forecheck. This team can't play that way and the players know it.
- MJL

Most of what you say makes sense to me, but how can you say the players are unable to play aggressively and they know it? What do you mean? They don't have the energy or desire to play hard? JvR was ultra aggressive and Gagne isn't? Jagr could forecheck but Voracek can't? Carle could play hard but Schenn can't? I don't think this team would be any better for another coach. They lost good players and did not replace them with better players. This team is not good. Holmgren put the team together and he hired the coach. If these players are the wrong players to play in Laviolette's system then it's on him to get the right players or the right coach.

Yeah Ebs is too much and we don't need him right now. I would love Justin Schultz but he's going nowhere.
- NickTheKid87

Well, I'm inclined to believe he's very tradeable, but would cost the moon.

I think I'm also in the minority here when I say I wouldn't touch him right now. Way too many holes in his defensive game. I swear, he's got Mike Green syndrome... Should be playing as a winger on one of the scoring lines lol.

I really wants Coots to pick it up. Last season he was so good! This season he looks like he's paying stoned... He's not great in either zone and that frustrates me...

He was unlucky last night with that shot off the crossbar.

My love for Schultz has more to do with his potential than his game right now. He's got a ways to go yet.

Para Olympics, he lost to another blade runner.
- spatso

The point is, spatso, that Special Olympics is where people get a prize no matter what because they are developmentally disabled.

The Paralympics is just as competitive and cut throat as the standard Olympics, as North Americans might know if they'd gotten the same fabulous coverage here as they got in England, where we were immersed in Paralympics coverage as constant and in depth as one gets of the regular Olympics here.

And Pistorius did compete to the level of being one of the top 16 runners in his event in the world against able-bodied runners. And, competed using shorter blades in order not to be considered advantaged against them. He used the same short blades in the Paralympics, which is why he got only a few golds and not all possible golds there.

But it's hard to be funny and smart. So go on, be ignorant.

If you were to counter with choice of Leighton/Boucher, Shelley, Lilja and Talbot I think you would be more realistic than him.

You can re-quote that from Bill's blog all you want. And he isn't saying what you want him to be saying there. I would guarantee that Bill would consider all the factors involved that have led to the current situation. Bryzgalov is not Dominik Hasek. He is not at the level where he can stand on his head, game in and game out, and perform miracles to keep the team in the game. It is a team game. And it requires team play, and team defense to be played.
- MJL

I said this the other day. The goalie *can* cover up many mistakes, but the way the Flyers skaters (all 12 forwards, all 6 D, to be absolutely clear to those who need it) have been playing poorly in front of him, it would take a Hasek-like effort from the mid-90's. That's what it would take to keep the Flyers in games where they gave points away because of lackluster play in front of Bryz.

You are not reading it objectively though, you are just looking at stats without context it would seem.

He doesn't score so he doesn't have the stats to prove he's valuable. If he wasn't so good at killing penalties I'd have no problem with scratching him.
