Im honestly baffeled at the responses here. Bottum line this group isnt working. Also 9 more years of ilya are not good. Do you think were gonna find a taker for that? The islanders have 20 million invested into there goaltenders already. We gotta give some to get some. Bottum line dont know how we sign giroux after next season. Were strapped finnancially and have the least cap in the league. How do we get under next years cap. Like it or not something big has to change. - Joshc

I agree that he hasn't lived up to the contract, but you were disregarding other factors that may have lead to that. - NickTheKid87
no I'm not. 43 yrs of watching this game, I've seen enuf guys come and go. bryz is not mentally tough enuf to deal with the pressure here consistently. i would understand why homer would give him another yr to try and salvage this thing, but i think the dye is cast. the talent is there, but the intangibles prob are not. |

Don't need to trade assets like the Schenns to get out from Bryz's contract.
They can just buy him out this summer, if need be. - bradleyc4
you're not being objective about bryz! |

he has not played up to his contract. I've watched every game and i know how often we need him to make the momentum type save where he hasn't come thru. you act as if I'm an out of town fan just looking at numbers. do you want 7 more yrs of what we've seen so far?
that's certainly an objective analysis. - isaiah520
Meh. If he had less clothespins on him, that would help everyone. After he was mostly playing great in January while the team in front of him sputtered, it was only a matter of time for him to sputter, too. It's the same thing Bill wrote about this year and last - team defense and goaltender play affect one another. For better and for worse. It's a marriage. |

He played in a defensive system in Phoenix and I think that Bryz has proved he can't play without having really strong team defense in front of him so I would at least give him a shot with a new coach (assuming Lavy's gone at some point) and if it doesn't work then buy him out. |

Can't buy out Pronger because he's injured.
Each team has 2 compliance buyouts that they can use either in the 2013 offseason or the 2014 offseason. |

both partners have come up short. we had a better group last yr and he stunk. this yr, with less support, he's mediocre at best. so i guess he's trending upwards... |

That's the whole point. How many times he has to come up with the momentum save. How many times he has to stand on his head for the team to have a chance. What I want is for the team to play solidly and then we'll see what Bryzalov has.
And here's what you're not considering. They better get the best of the best in here to play goal. Because if the team game in front of the Goalie, doesn't get better. Unless it's a superstar on the level of Hasek, it's not going to matter. |

Save a buyout for 10 years down the road. Or put it in a time capsule and bury it. Then in 50 years the Future Flyers will find it and be able to use on Ilya Bryzgalov III. |

No he didn't. At times? Yes, but he was not the reason they lost 4 straight to NJ.
I didn't want the guy here, but I'm not on some damned foolish crusade to rip him to shreds at every chance. When the 18 guys in front of him are putrid playing in their own zone, I don't focus on the 1 guy giving his all to stop the puck. |

Heres a trade to help both teams. To edmonton brygalof wayne simmonds braydon schenn and luke. To philly choice of khabulin or dubnyk for cap space and contract ease. Ales hemsky and eric belanger and nick shultz. Both teams address needs. Clearly in cap and contract lengths philly is in a good place moving forward. Were not gonna get rid of the brisgolof problem easily and saving the buyout is crucial - Joshc
Um, No.
You want us to trade Bryz (who has been at times our best player and kept us in whatever place we are this season, yes the rest of the team has been THAT bad), The Schenn's (Luke who has a a rejuvenated career year in Philly and is starting to live up to his hype, and Brayden who is one of the top young league forwards) and Simonds (tied for our leading scorer) for and over the hill injured or young unimpressive goalie and a bunch of constant trade assets that have nobody has ever had a bad enough need to trade for?
How about I trade Gus, McGinn and Leighton for Nail Yakupov? |

I despise James Neal more. Dumber than a bag of hammers in the first period and yet the Flyers still give that game away. Ugh.
More mad about that game than any other in a long time. Probably because it felt so much like Game 6 in 2009. |
