Those NFC West teams mean business. The Seahawks acquired Percy Harvin earlier. - PLindbergh31
hopefully Chip can follow the Giants' plan of going 8-8 and relying on the most miraculous plays in the history of sports and physics to stumble their way into some championships |

OK, so there isn't a quick fix for the team. I'm not suggesting Holmgren can fix it today. What I am saying is that they had a system that was working pretty well. They had an uptempo offensive team. They made up for some of their defensive weaknesses by scoring a lot of goals. Shea Weber or Ryan Suter would have been a great addition, but he didn't get them. What he did do was let some very good offense and added players ill suited for the system that the coach runs. Now he's got a team that can't make up for it's defensive lapse with offense. - Dkos
The system didn't work perfectly well. This season and last, the Flyers are 5-17-1 vs the Rangers and Devils, including a 6 game losing streak against each.
The GM tried to land players more suited to the system and failed. That's on the GM's tab, for sure. He shares the blame. But the coach failed to adjust his system to better fit the players on the roster. What good is a coach that can't adjust?
Look at Ottawa. They're getting by after losing more key players to injury than anyone. Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek and Anderson all out, still winning games. The Devils lose Parise, still winning games(although they've been hurting lately without Broduer, that's been mostly due to Johan Hedberg aging 57 years over the summer & Lockout)
Laviolette has know since last August he wouldn't have Carle, Pronger, Weber or Suter. He had ample time to make changes to fit what was on hand. He didn't. That part is on his tab. |

You can't win in Pro sports with a coach named Chip. One and done. |

What about the 86' and 90' Giants? What were their blueprints for success? |

You are young. I had to look up NKOTB.
None of that is music I would listen to intentionally. |

I was a fan of the first 2 Pearl Jam albums. Not a fan of what soft/sappy/slow/boring stuff they've put out since, starting with yield. It was pretty cool when Eddit Vedder sang Comfortably Numb though.
Van Halen was just before my time, but I can get behind them.
Led Zeppelin's good, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar, or a Scottsman. But I just don't think they're as great as they're hailed to be. They've had just as much influence on music as The Ramones, and I can't stand people who call them heavy metal. Like I said, good, but not the best ever. - jmatchett
The last two Pearl Jam albums have been more rock heavy, than Yield, Riot Act and Binuaral.
And PJ is still one of the best live rock bands around. They play for three hours and keep it fresh. If they're in town three nights, you're getting 3 different set lists.
VH was my childhood group, there's always a soft spot for them. I love both DLR & Hagar eras, despite the differences in sound.
As far as Zeppelin. again, it's a band I grew up with. Hugely influential, but they're kind of strange in, during their heyday, they were kind of underground. Thy didn't get the press that the Stones or The Who did in the early to mid 1970's, but by the end of the decade, they were pointed to as the bloated corpse of arena rock.
Zeppelin's impact is financial as much as musical, too. They were one of the first bands to really get paid for touring. They'd bring their own crew in and avoid outside people, and basically rent the stadium, rather than doing a split with the promoter.
And no, Zep is not heavy metal. |

He could put up 80+ points this year in 48 games (on pace for 83). That would be good enough for a top 10 finish in scoring in an 82 game season most likely. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I feel bad for Flyers' fans who allow their bias to get in the way of appreciating what Crosby can due on the ice. - NickTheKid87
Don't feel bad for us. We respect his ability as a player and loathe who he is as a player. No skin off our backs. The game existed before him and will again after he's gone. |

Defensive line depth. Don't have an issue with it. 3 years 8 million.
Seriously an Iggles fan talking smack to a Giants fan would be like a garbage man chirping the Facebook douche. |

I've heard that PJ puts on a good show. But I can't justify spending the money, because it would be like seeing RHCP live: I'd only want to heat 1/3 of the set. I'm just such a fan of Ten and Versus (for RHCP, it would be Mother's Mike and Bllod Sex Sugar Majic), and they can't top them. But hey, if you are a fan, by all means enjoy.
Your Van Halen is my Nine Inch Nails. I saw them at Woodstock 94 and was hooked for the next 5-6 years of my life. But again, they never were able to recreate the early stuff, and their sets became, to me, watered down because of it. |
