This season, partially. But while Holmgren did a poor job at getting Lavy the pieces he needed, Lavy has done a WORSE job at adjusting his style. This also goes back to last year when they went 0-6 against the Rangers and lost 4 straight to the Devils in the playoffs. He never adjusted to those types of teams then, even when he had the pieces.

I think Holmgren has done a poor job for this season (not for a lack of trying) but he still built an incredibly talented young core. I think we also have to remember that this is technically year 2 of a pseudo-rebuild (i.e. trading Richie and Carts).

Analysis of Brieres play with the puck

1. Skate in to the offensive zone
2. Slam on the breaks
3. Look to make pass
4. Turn puck over

Definitely. There's still plenty of career left, I don't think he's got 'playoffs problems'.

The one thing you can't teach is work ethic, something Bob has in plenty. You can never write off someone who works hard.

Ummmmm... You forgot option 2... Dumps puck into corner, chases puck down, gets out muscled and puck cleared out of zone.

I would play the video of giroux and briere laughing in the third and skate those (frank)ers into the ground.

it's a fine line in a shortened season. Playing basically every other day it's hard to work practices in without totally running guys into the ground.

I don't want these guys to be grimacing robots, either. I mean, I wouldn't want to see them laughing and smiling after the Boston game, but I don't mind Giroux lightening up just a bit after finally finding the twine.

22 year old kid in a new country, new surroundings, new team, new league, different size ice surface.

If I was 22 and faced all of those hurdles, my goal would be to try not to poop my drawers. Bobrovsky handled himself as well as can be expected. And he played well considering all the obstacles.

Would you rather have Bobrovsky right now or Leighton/Boucher as the backup?
- PLindbergh31

A better backup would be nice, sure, but I'm more than fine with Bryz as the starter.

Funny, I see people who defend Laviolette talking whistfully about Bobrovsky. The reason the Flyers have Bryz was because Laviolette buried Bob after one bad playoff period.

It would have been interesting to see what would've happened had they signed a player like Roloson or Giguere after 2010-11 and let Bob split the load.

I was at the game so I have no idea what you are talking about but if you are saying the two were on the bench in a game they were winning 3-2 and laughed, why is that a problem? sometimes you need to lighten up the moment. maybe they were laughing about a play that happened in their favor. whatever really. I don't see a problem.

Lavy's handling of Bob irked me to no end. Perhaps there was something there we all don't know about but I hated that decision

I said at the time it was a quick hook and didn't agree with it considering the alternatives. Just because a young player gets benched, doesn't mean he has to be traded.

I dont give a poop those are excuses....And no he hasnt he still lets in poopty goals...just because he has had a good run in the last five games doesnt mean poop...is he better then bouch/leighton....yes...better then bryz?no.
- Philly1980

No offense but think about it. 22 year old kid moves to new country, can't even communicate , new home , all those factors... It's not an excuse iTs a reality. Crap if you had to move for your job to a new town think of the things youd have to deal with. Most players in bobs position go to jr's or ahl. I agree he may not turn out good but he is improving nicely and is still trending up. Bryz is trending nowhere. He is what he is. AVERAGE. So yeah I'd rather have stuck with bob. Again we wouldn't be in any worse position then we are right now but at least bob would have chance to improve.

Because they almost let the game get away from them...Laugh after the game not when your only up 3/2...that game came a few inches from being tied..they barely held on to win

Yeah, I was terribly sad to see how much Rinaldo abused those poor back boards on that charging call.
