SCOREBOARD! SCOREBOARD! SCOREBOARD!
Probably one of the worst chants in the world. |

Yeah, I was terribly sad to see how much Rinaldo abused those poor back boards on that charging call. - johndewar
Very poor call imo. Rinaldo is really growing on me. He's become a very effective player. |

There is a good core to build on. Something is missing though. Meszaros hasn't looked very good in these two games. Not sure if it's rust or if he's still injured. Probably a bit of both. - PLindbergh31
I was so excited to have someone actually have a point shot I thought he played decently... |

He was ok. Seems to me like he's holding back. Hopefully the more games he gets under his belt the more comfortable he will be. Afterall the guy has played like 6 games in the last calendar year. Have to cut him some slack. |

22 year old kid in a new country, new surroundings, new team, new league, different size ice surface.
If I was 22 and faced all of those hurdles, my goal would be to try not to poop my drawers. Bobrovsky handled himself as well as can be expected. And he played well considering all the obstacles. - PLindbergh31

Tbh I'd be way more comfortable if they picked MacKinnon or Drouin over Jones with the 1st overall pick (which I doubt they'll have). I'd be happier if the took Jones though but with this media and fanbase, if they guy wasn't a legit #1 in 3 years, people would be calling for his head. I don't know how mentally tough he is but he'd need to be in the upper echelon. |

That Prospal penalty is ridiculous. That's not even worth two minutes, imo. |

MacKinnon could be a superstar, franchise player. Of course, Jones could be too but with the Flyers, I think MacKinnon would be their best bet at getting a stud. Not sold on Drouin yet. |

Awesome post. Homer is going to have a hard time ever justifying the Bob trade. There was no need to move him at the time he did. - The_Universe
I Adore Bob. Truly I do, and what some of you are not realizing is that Homer trading him was awesome for Bob. He is getting his shot in net in Columbus. Do we miss him? Sure. But the Flyers were all in on Bryz. No question. And there was concern that Bob was giving him some uneeded pressure as Bryz felt his job might be in jeopardy by the young gun behind him. So we moved Bob. Good move for Bob's career and it left Bryz to prove himself with one less excuse.
I don't mind the trade because I wanted Bob to prove he was more than just a high priced back-up in the NHL. And it gave Bryz the message that management was backing him...
I thought at the time (and still do) he got traded on the cheap and we could have gotten more. But I'm not a GM...
EDIT: This was Leight. You guys covered all my points already... I shoulda known! |

He registered as many hits last night as I did. |

How does it work exactly? I'm not sure if there is new draft rules or what. Do the 14 non playoff teams go into a lottery? Worst team having the best chance to win, while the team with the best record who misses the playoffs likely selecting with the # 14 pick? |

True you could pretty much get 99% of the NHL defenseman with the top pick. |

Hypothetically speaking, if the Flyers finish with the 8th worst overall record in the NHL, I fully expect them to pick 14th.
If Holmgren trades the first round pick, the team who gets it will pick in the top 3.

Yes. Winning the lottery is now getting the #1 overall pick instead of the 5 worst teams potentially moving up 2 spots or whatever it was. So whoever wins the lottery, I believe everyone else is bumped down. |

what i'm saying is even if they were the worst team, as in 2007, they still wouldn't end up with the top pick. i have my doom and gloom hat on today. |

did they change the rules?....I thought a team who wins the lottery could only move up a max of 5 draft positions. NJ won the lottery a few years back and moved up to like 8th or 9th... |

I think if you finished with the 8th worst record, the worst you could pick would be 9th, if I understand correctly.
Edit: If the 3rd worse team won the lottery, the worst would pick 2nd, and then the rest would fall into place correctly but if the 9th worst team won, then the worse would pick 2nd and so on until the 10th worst team picks 10th. |
