gotta love the officiating sometimes - nastyflyergirl
This wasn't charging this was a Rinaldoing call. Plain and simple... Yeah I was miffed. |

I think if you finished with the 8th worst record, the worst you could pick would be 9th, if I understand correctly. - NickTheKid87

Gagne-Giroux-Simmonds
Hartnell-Read-Voracek
Briere-Schenn-Talbot
Rusty-Cooter-Rinaldo
I want Lava to try these lines so bad. I think we should be stacking the center position and I really wish there was a way to have Briere there because I HATE Briere on the wing, but I think these lines would be something worth trying.
-Giroux gets a pure shooter in Gagne, can focus on just getting the puck to the other two instead of trying to do everything. Let him have faith in the other two's ability to finish
-Jake on the second line gives him two natural goal scorers to find in open ice
-Third line is essentially formed by default, and a fine one at that
-Cooter, who's not doing a ton of scoring anyway, brings size and stability to the 4 line C position
Allows us to roll four lines consistently if need be, and I also wouldn't mind seeing Zac on a higher line as he's really coming into his own as an agitator-type player to the point where he's realizing he can produce in all aspects when give the responsibility.
Thoughts? |

did they change the rules?....I thought a team who wins the lottery could only move up a max of 5 draft positions. NJ won the lottery a few years back and moved up to like 8th or 9th... - Pyzik
yes, the rules changed |

The rule was changed. All non playoff teams will be eligible to win the draft lottery which is now the #1 overall pick. |

Don't hold me to that though because I'm not 100% certain. I'm only "pretty sure". |

The first Buffalo goal came about at the end of an extended sequence in which the Flyers had too few players on the ice (Danny Briere went off on a line change, Claude Giroux didn't come on) - bmeltzer
So, who's fault is that? How does that even happen?
These inept line changes have probably cost a half dozen goals this year.

A friend of mine the other day compared Briere to the groundhog who saw his shadow and has decided that playoffs aren't here yet so he'd just hide in his hole. I could only shake my head as it was appropriate. And it made me sad. |

The coach's "system" has worked in the past why isn't it working now? - Dkos
His system is a system that needs two things. The proper mix of players. And it needs to have a very high level of effort, energy, and skating to be effective. It's very difficult for any team to play that way long term. That is why it is sink or swim with Laviolette. Most good Coaches are adaptable and make adjustments to their personel. And the best systems are multi faceted. Laviolette's is not. There is only one element to it that is key. And that is ultra aggressive posture all over ther ice, especially on the forecheck. This team can't play that way and the players know it. |
