Dude seriously? So the fact that he's "more adept" than Stevens is some sort of hallmark of achievement? Give me a break. Talk about damning with faint praise...doesn't get much worse than saying "well, he's better than Stevens".

That's the rough equivalent of saying "Well, my kid's not an axe murderer, so he's not a bad kid". There should be a higher standard.

- BringBack25

If your kid were an axe murderer I'm sure he'd have a very good reason.

Absolutely, Bryz was on his game early but the fact is he is not. He was the same last season, very inconsistent even with Bob getting some games in.
- flyerfan28

Perhaps Bryzgalov is just being thoughtful towards Flyer fans.

If he learned anything last year it is that Flyer fans love their goalie controversy and conspiracy theories. Maybe he is just adding some drama to help Flyer fans in their annual vent.

"I cover the Dallas Stars as well as the Flyers, and I can most assuredly tell you that the Dallas team defense is every bit as prone to horrific breakdowns as the Flyers, arguably even more so. Yet somehow Kari Lehtonen has still managed to be one of the top goaltenders in the NHL over the last few years, including a 2.23 GAA and .929 save percentage this year."

Thank you Bill! What i have been trying to get people to understand lol. Can only blame the D for so much and a good goalie should be able to bail you out every now and then.

- flyerfan28

Bryzalov hasn't bailed them out every now and then?

The problem is more the media here, they create drama where there is none, they don't understand the game, by and large, and a lot of the MSM folks seem as interested in doing the radio/TV stuff as they do the game they're covering.

I just tweeted about how during an intermission report on Saturday or Sunday, I finally heard a member of the mainstream Philly sports media bring up the fact that if Pronger retires, the Flyers would be on the hook for $4.9 million of dead cap space for the next 4 years.

Not one time did I hear about that before.

Sam's article about Pronger this morning was completely useless.

I fall into the group that believes that he is a pretty good goalie, but you are seeing some real fatigue from too many games in too short a period. Add in the stress of the controversy and you have a really uncomfortable working situation. It sure isn't Phoenix.

I still think the best short term option is a very good back up goalie who can take 25% of the workload.

Yeah I started reading it and then realized it was him just venting about the same thing everyone else is (or at least everyone who knows that Pronger retiring would screw the team over).

Can Pronger not come back for training camp next fall. Pass the medical and get bought out before he laces up the skates,

Bryzalov hasn't bailed them out every now and then?
- MJL

In the beginning of the season he did, and more than every now and then. Over the past few weeks, he hasn't been bailing them out, he's been just good at best. At the start of the season, they were getting goaltending but no offense. Now they're getting offense, but the goaltending (whether Bryzgalov's fault or the team's) hasn't been as stellar. It would be nice to find a happy medium.
