Seriously, do you see the minutes Subban logs. This is his 3rd full season in the NHL while Gardiner has trouble cracking a Leaf line-up that has not made the playoffs in 8 years. Subban keeps playing like he is now and he is a potential Team Canada. Gardiner is a potential Leaf. Once again, Gardiner is a good prospect. Subban is a budding star. - Champ
That's my point exactly. Subban is an elite defenseman whom Leaf fans, blinded by their Leafness, dismissed as inferior to Gardiner based on the smallest possible sample size. |

and in the new thread our idiot blogger suggested trading for Gardiner and now Leafs fans are busily overvaluing him to the point where apparently the return would have to be our 1st + Gagner or Hall + Klefbom. My God... |

Last year, Gardiner was playing like 21min/game and looked solid and poised. He was a top 4 dman then. i think he has the potential to pair up on the 1st pairing with schultz for a long time. If i were the leafs, i only do that deal if edm is sitting with a top 5 pick at the trade deadline. not worth it if they slip to picking 10th or something. |

Lol did someone actually say that? hes a great young dman but he isnt worth that. i dont think your pick would get it done if its outside the top 5. just because gardiner is a young and for sure thing, who has already proven he can be a top 4 dman. Reason he isnt up right now is 1)gettting back into game shape from the concussion, and 2) we want to evaluate what we actually have in koska, holzer and fraser. |

Its not that gardiner cant crack the leafs line up, he is down in the minors because he is getting back into peak game shape condition, and also, with the current D playing well, nonis wants to evaluate what he actually has in guys like koska, fraser, and holzer.
But your right, subban>Gardiner at this point, and probably for their whole careers with the way subban has played this season. |

I remember when Gardiner was way better than Subban, playing in front of Reimer, who's way better than Price.
It's called being a knowledgable fanbase. - oniremosewa

i see.
we actually played three number 2 lines tonight which worked quite nicely i thought.
jones nuge ebs
hall horcoff hemsky
prv gags yakupov
( i really liked the 3rd)
we've been doing a clear 1, 2 and 3 all season with not alot of success. - hugefemale dog77
With a bit of time to gel I think those lines might be decent. the triple H line really looked awkward though, and Hemsky was invisible. |

I'm assuming you're a Habs fan?
I'm giving your organization huge props for the way its turned itself around. I thought the way they handled the Subban contract was superb and am incredibly jealous of just how good he could/will be.
Also, since i grew up playing with Gallagher, i'm so excited what he's brought for your team. He is an incredibly hard worker, well conditioned(folicularly) and a very humble well spoken kid. I'd love to have that undersized beast on the Oilers. - JShack

Hemsky had the flu (was sent to the locker room midway through the third).

my point isnt' to shift anything, it's to point out that gardiner has much value then you seem to be giving him.
perhaps you need gagner more than gardiner, that's fine...but some of the suggested offers for gardiner were ridiculous - sensarmy_11
But you did shift...the discussion is about Gagner and Gardiner...I do not see how you bring JS into the conversation except to shift and deflect. |

he was hurt. RNH hasn't proven he can sustain what he did last year, does that mean he's now unproven and not worth much? - sensarmy_11
Wait so since we just get to keep bringing other players into it...
So since Hemsky had a 70 point season he is still considered elite...cause you know he was injured and thus cannot have that time off for injury used against him...and this works better for Hemsky since he kept a high ppg%.
Nuge is playing in the NHL, and while his points have not been present his overall game has improved. We do not know the same is true of Gardiner.
Seriously though. He has not proved anything in the league yet. He had 1 good season....he needs to prove he can keep it up. |
