has tyler myers really been that bad?
is there any chance he gets moved for the right return?
like say a possible top 5 pick? |

if somoene wants to give us a top 5 pick, the sabres might listen, but it's hard to say. |

agreed.
it was spoken of in the oilers thread and i was unsure.
they just signed him long term, so they mustve believed he can be a force for a long time. and that signing was even after he seemed to regress, so that leads one to believe that they think its just a hiccup in his overrall development.
and then on the flip side, if he has been THAT bad, is he worth a lottery pick? especially since u cant dump him and get out of the contract.
i say even at medium hes absolutely the type of player the oilers could use.
id roll the dice and pull the trigger from our end as it could be a first overall or as low as a tenth |

He's been better since his horrid start but overall a sub par year. As for trading him for a top 5 pick that really comes down to who we're picking. Can't ignore the possibility of drafting both Mackinnon and Drouin. I think under that scenario they might do it but if your question is does he get moved at the deadline then no. |

I think as an oilers fan you might want to consider that on your team he would be playing with Justin Schultz which would probably impact him in a positive way. The thing is neither of our GM's has the stones to pull a trade like this so unless there is a double firing this summer (which actually isn't all to unlikely) then it's never happening. |

i see. on the flip side, i think thats one of the only way tambs does it. if its after the season and we're looking at a top 3 pick, he prob doesnt have the stones to do it.
but since it may be lower (trade deadline), i think there could be a chance he sacks up.
are u unwilling to give up cause of the shortened season? totally reasonable. just curious |

good post.
totally agree.
its worth the risk on our end imo. a big behemoth alongside schultz (whos not unwilling, but just not that physically strong)

It's not so much the shortened season as it is the commitment they've made towards him (franchise D-man of the future). If they do decide to trade Myers it will probably have to be for something or someone that is a sure thing which is why he wouldn't trade for a draft pick now. That or in a more unlikely scenario someone else would have to do what Foligno did to Kassian which is make him a surplus but unless Pysyk gets called up and scores 10 goals between now and the deadline... |

I think if I were EDM though I would wait till after the lottery. If you end up winning or getting 2nd overall pretty good chance you could get Jones which might be what they are thinking? |

for sure thats what they want.
but im on the HELP NOW bandwagon. banking on draft picks shouldnt be part of tambs strategy any longer.
im not saying i wouldnt love jones, but to bank on getting him is a huge risk.
i think doing something now to get some wins in the bank (even if we didnt make the playoffs but finished tenth in the west or something) would do wonders for the kids confidence.
another bottom 5 finish could be really bad for hall and ebs imo. it'll be 3 full years of absolute frustration for them.
we'd be starting to enter islanders territory where losing is almost forever expected.

tempting, but id have to pass.
we've waited 5 years for gags to develop. gags is finally producing like we hoped he could.
and not really interested in picks coming back.
we'd just be making another huge hole. (horcoff CANNOT play 2C and neither would we have our first to try and fill that hole)
1st and a prospect
for myers |

id push for the deal NOW.
meaning it could be first overall (last week it looked like that was inevitable) or as low as tenth. (most likely 5-7 is my guess)
and a solid mid level prospect
