You mentioned Gervais twice. Meszaros was the defenseman that turned the puck over behind the net, and then lost his check, Elias who was the goal scorer
- MJL

Yup I stated that earlier as well. He has got blinders on. Gervais is a convenient scapegoat.

At this rate Jones will still be on the board when we pick.

I'm not even sure drafting a defenseman is the right approach. Might have to trade Coots or Schenn for someone who can help now and draft Drouin or Barkov as their replacement. An 18 yr old D man is years away from fixing this mess.

And so correct.

Yet it happens game in and game out for years now. With no consequences. Im just doing the math.
- MBFlyerfan

Part of it is coaching, and I agree its time for Lava to go.

However there are much larger issues here. Imo.

Far too much stupid, and inconsistentcy on the team.

I dont care if he preaches aggressive hockey.

Those two pinches by Read and Grossman tonight were stupid plain and simple. Coots and Gervais were horrific on that one goal as well.

Its frustrating because honestly this sorry group of poop spitting on the Flyer logo annoys me more, but its time for the coach to go.

- flyer_nutter

On the PP, pretty much every team's point man would try and keep that puck in. That's not stupid, just an unfortunate bounce. But Grossmann pinching that led to an odd man break. That is absolutely by design, and a player doing what he is told to do. Same old, same old. There is no way Grossmann playing in a different system would make that pinch.

Bishop, Bernier, or Hiller will likely cost us our 1st rounder, at least. I'd rather draft one of the quality d-men that are rated high on draft rankings.

No goalie was stopping that one. Perfect shot with a blink-of-the-eye release and lots of steam.

If the Flyers can get their hands on either Jones, Zadorov or Ristolainen you take any of them and run away wearing Eklund's mask.

See its comments like this. If Read sees Kovalchuk coming down on his ass he should back off. No matter what design there is. As should have Meszaros to give himself a chance to come back.

If you can tell the future, or have a crystal ball alright.

However a large part of the blame here has to fall on the players themselves.

Coots threw away the puck with a blind pass, thats what started everything. Then feebly waves his stick for the rest of the sequence.

Meszaros made a bad decision however Gervais did what exactly do try and keep the puck out of the net?

If you wish to defend Gervais at all this season by all means. He should be wiping my windshield for chum change.

- flyer_nutter

You are right. Couturier's turnover started the whole play. But Gervais was not at fault on that play. He had his check.

Agreed, but right now they need to sell what they can. Get good picks, sign consistent players. All of our complaints from the last few years are being realized in front of our eyes. They talked about players not giving their all a few years back even with carter and Richards here. Well we still have the same issues and they're not even here.
Get some leadership that can build a winner the right way, through the draft.

Corey Perry suspended 4 games for a hit that wasn't even violent enough to make the segment NBC showed before the game glorifying hits they say they want out of the game.

Uh I'm pretty sure grossmann would be an unlikely pinch candidate tho anywhere else

When Read had that bouncing puck coming to him on the PP, the other D man, (Mezsy?) should have been moving back to center ice. Oh well. They are going to get the coach fired.

Except it sure looked like Mez cause that turnover on the first goal.
I am all for riding Couturier for having a horrible season but I want to see that again.

oh, I long for the days of Terry Murray ... when men were men, and a certain hockey team knew the benefit of limiting 2 on 1's against.

It's just blame the player on the ice you like least and blame him. Even if he had nothing to do with the goal being scored.
