This is really what happens when a team is toast. They're so frustrated by the lack of results. I disagree completely that they lack heart. They are just a beaten team. And the main reason is the horrendous job done by Laviolette. Not the only reason, but the main reason. This has been a downhill slide all game. You just can't play the way they play. - MJL

There are signs of heart. Heck, every shift by Rinaldo and Hartnell - though Hartnell often forgets the smart heart and goes with dumb heart when the team is failing. And this is from a guy who was stoked when Hartsy was acquired in 2007, owns his jersey, and was most pleased to get the jersey signed by him 2 weeks ago.
They rarely make it out 10' past their own blueline. It's maddening. |

Just to get things a little wild.
Lets say they bring in Murray.
Things stay the same or get worse. The D gets exposed, as do the forwards who are not good in their own zone. Bryzgalov's fatigue gets worse.
Just for poops and giggles what then? |

You're a better man than me...I just couldn't trudge through it even though I'm sure there would have been a lot of good lore there.
Oh well.
If you haven't already, Patrick Rothfuss' 2 books (3rd out soon) are good.

I'd love to read more, but my list (and stack of books on the nightstand!) is huge right now. I have many more books than time to read them. I'll look at them and add them to my Amazon wishlist, though.
EDIT: That reminds me that I think I was supposed to contact Joe Russomanno about his book or something. Ugh. |

Two of the best fantasy books I've read this year and that includes a complete re read of Wheel of Time. |

Understandable. I often watch just for the player and coach interviews and just imagine white noise over the crew, especially Barkann. |

Disagree completely. Don't see at all why this is Holmgren's issue (assuming you meant he should also be feeling the heat). Snider...maybe some blame but it's his team. I think he was more responsible for the Byrz deal than Holmgren.
Last season Holmgren was a genius by almost all accounts for getting such a return for Carter & Richards and revamping the roster in one offseason. He follows that up by going after every good FA on the market, but comes up empty. His fault? Don't really see how - his offeres were better than the ones accepted by those free agents. That doesn't make him a bad GM. Seems to me he did everything he could have done to make the team better.
You want to hang him for the Gervais signing? Foster? OK fine. He could have signed some other scrub, journeymen d-men instead. But there was nobody else out there substantially better than the guys he brought in.
Should he have kept Jagr? In hindsight, maybe. But at the time almost everyone agreed Jagr wanted too much money and nobody wanted to guarantee him a spot on the top line.
Should have hung onto JVR? Again, maybe, but look at how our defense looks tonight without Schenn. You ready for this every night? And it's not like JVR would improve our team D (nor would he be scoring this way on this team).
Sure, there are maybe a few things he wishes he could do over again. But that doesn't make him a bad GM, or the reason this team is playing the way it is. Most of that blame falls squarely on Lavy's shoulders in my opinion. - BringBack25

When I was little I would go around in the potato field and pop the bugs that ate the potato plants.
I think this team needs some popping. |

I wish my team was as bad as the Flyers...oh wait...
Really though the problem with the rangers and flyers that would bug me the most it would be having that much talent and still sucking |

Heh, took me three tries to finish the Silmarillion. You get a badge that says "Geek of Dorkdom" when you finish it. You have to send away for it, but worth it! - Flyskippy
I've tried 3 times but usually I just end up skipping to a few of the tales in there and give up on the rest. After seeing the Hobbit movie I had to read that book again to get the bad taste of the move out. Saw the 3d version...considering going to see the 2d version to see if I feel differently. Anyway read the Hobbit to my 3 year old. Sugarcoated some of the scary scenes and battles. He loved it. Always wants me to tell Hobbit stories at bed time. He likes "Smauggie-Woggie" and "the Necky" (Necromancer).
Naturally I've moved on to Fellowship (not with little guy though...a little too much character development and such for him). I've probably read The Hobbit 6 or 7 times and the LOTR trilogy at least 5. Guess I am a Geek.
I am thinking of checking out Unfinished tales one of these days. ... and someday maybe I'll conquer the road that goes ever on in the Silmarillion.

Again with the convenient forgetting of 2004 and 2010, let alone the seasons in those 20 years that the Flyers won the season series. |
