Oh yes the famous "fans looking for a call and won't get it!"
- aantny88
What bothers me is it is turning flyers fans into excuse artists. I talk to people at work and its always " the flyers lost cause of those awful calls" its like there brainwashing them. No jerk they lost cause they didnt play well enough to win

I'd take Sam Rosen's side against Torts every day of the week. Love Rosen's announcing and demeanor.
- FlyerGuy
absolutely. I grew up watching a lot of Rangers games as we only really got ESPN and MSG and it was tough to watch a lot of the Flyers games. I love Rosen. I wanted him to pop Torts in the face.
that's probably not too rare, considering how often players move from team to team nowadays.

and reverse the puck. every stinking time. - nastyflyergirl
to me, they end up pinning the puck because they look up for an outlet or a way to move the puck and they have no options. So rather than make a risky play with the puck, they end up pinning it, forcing (in theory) some of their teammates to eventually come help.
Speaking of Gratton, I heard his name come up yesterday because when Nnamdi Asomugha was let go by the Eagles, the conversation turned to "Who were the worst Philadelphia free agents ever signed?".
Christopher Gratton has gotta be on that list. - johndewar

Torts vs Brooks can be entertaining ... but when he goes off you can tell he's (Torts) just a pr*ck.
Sam and JD was the best I ever heard ... outside of Gene Hart, back in the day.

So it's like when Jsaq repeatedly said they can't beat a patient, fore checking team over the last several weeks and now everyone on the thread retypes it zombie like.
Pat Faloon is the answer every other game.
He had a weird career with Philly. They'd put him in the lineup and he'd score in his first game back. Then he'd go pointless and get sent down/scratch. Then he'd get back into the lineup and score in his first game. If they'd just sat him every other game, could have had 40 goals.

I remember when SJ took him second and then took his junior line mate first in the second round. Who at that draft knew that Whitney would easily eclipse his career.
Anyone else angry that you can't have local TV coverage of a sports championship? Had that been the case, you never would have heard Gene Hart do the call of the OT Clarke goal or the end of Game 6 (unless he was able to do the radio broadcast).
I hear ya, and he's certainly got his detractors. I don't remember feeling good or bad about him when he was Gene's cohort ... but that was a LONG time ago. Memory isn't what it used to be.

A little bit like Simon Gagne and Eric Chouinard, who played on the same line in junior. Both were drafted in the first round (Chouinard went higher) and had markedly different NHL careers.

still the greatest call in Flyers history, imo ... I still get chills.
And Columbus beat the red Wings recently. You're comparing one game to 25 games played. Do you honestly think that's a valid comparison? - MJL
No. One game isn't a valid comparison. However the Rangers were one of the favorites to win the Cup, yet they are currently the 8th seed and have a very mediocre record of 13-10-2. What is the cause of them drastically underachieving thus far?
The projected line up for tonight's game is finally what I had expected to see when FA was over last summer and Mez was healthy. This should be the most talent and best effort we could put forward as a team with the current roster. Now, it is going to actually take the players to show up and give that effort. Gervais is probably the biggest "talent question mark". But Foster and Gus were no better. If this is the best we can be, we should find out fairly quickly if we can turn this thing around. I'm not over confident with this current group.
I've seen them do that even when there's no attacking forward right on them. They often have time to move the puck, but instead just trap it against the boards.
I bet it happens 10 times tonight. - FlyerGuy
I haven't see a defenseman do that when they aren't pressured.
