agreed. there was no room in the top6 for lokti and he has shown in the past that he's not effective in a bottom 6 role either. glad he's getting top line looks, and prime pp time to showcase his skills. but was he going to steal a job from kopitar or richards? nope. - hiway39
As long as its not against the Kings, It would be cool if he somehow finally gets his name on the cup |

good to hear Loktionov is working out. No Kings fan thought he wouldnt. Kings ended up with Ellerby with the pick from NJ so things worked out good for both teams as there was no room for Loktionov with the Kings. But lamariello did good for you guys for sure. - seven111dman
Why do kings fans come on our blog and talk about ellerby everytime Lokti is mentioned? |

I thought I could have been the first one to mention it but I don't read every devils blog. I refuse to state the obvious reason for our mentioning the connection, but I am glad lokti is doing good. He is a solid player and I know Kings fans are pulling for him. |

maybe we are in a way licking our wounds, from such a lopsided deal, by noting how Dean redeemed himself by getting Ellerby for the pick. It does seem pretty obvious |

HELL NO... Jonathan Bernier not worth the price - jsiha
Yes he is. He's an awesome goalie. I'd rather keep him because we wouldn't get anything decent in return. If Lombardi were to give a team a discount, it would be either NJ or PHI. If LA deals him, it should be to a team where we'd get fair value in return. |

There is almost no market for goalies. The return will never be fair value for the fans of that team. |

Which is why we should keep him. I'd rather lose him for nothing, than trade him for scraps. At least we'd have him for one more playoff, considering he's been playing well. |

Not sure but I think Wedgewood is going to be the real deal when he develops. Have no problem with waiting on him. |

we need to replace our injured pylons - shvingter88
For Kinkaid, Wedgewood, Clermont... I mean we can cycle them gladiator style until one of them keeps the job and the others get sent to the pits.
Bernier is probably better than those goaltenders, though, and the problem with timing is that given the abundance of goalies available now, they can be gotten at a better price. What happens when Brodeur's number is raised beside the cup banners and there are no available goaltenders in case these ones aren't NHL caliber?
No, it won't happen because the team's not going to ice Brodeur or Hedberg to get another goaltender. We're stuck with this tandem for this year and the next unless one of them suddenly retires.
I was a Devils fan before Brodeur, I remember Billington, Terreri, Sidorkowitz... even Sean Burke. The Devil nets were not fun in those times... |

Todd said it was either a roster player and back-up goalie OR a top prospect. It would depend on the player really. If it was Henrique, hell no, Clarkson, maybe, Andy Greene, maybe. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to trade either. And to me Merrill and Boucher are off the table.
And I know Clarkson is great, but you have to look at it realistically. Clarkson, is a free agent at the end of the year, knowing Lou he wouldn't start talking to him until the year is over. Clarkson would probably demand around 4.5 a year. While we also have to resign Elias, Zubrus(maybe), Henrique, Loki, Josefson, Tedenby, Kinkaid, Zidlicky(maybe), and Poni(maybe). JJ, Teddy, and Kinkaid, probably won't get alot, but still, I think like 10% or something more.
Also, you could get a goalie that is ready now and has had experience, where you would have to wait four to five years before Wedgewood, Clermont, or Kinkaid even looked NHL ready. Look at Marc-Andre Fluery for example, and he was a first overall pick. Hell, even if one of our three were ready you could always do what Washington did and get two first rounds picks for Bernier, or a better top six forward. And it's not a guarantee that L.A. would resign Clarkson because they have to resign a lot of key players.
And I don't think Lou would trade Moose. Plus, theirs no point in bringing in a free agent goalie after next year if Marty and Moose do retire for 5 or 6 million, who is most likely gonna be in their mid 30's, like Miller or Kiprusoff for example. |

Wonder how much longer it will be until Zubrus is back. Eventually this is how I would like to see the lines shape up:
- Rseen[Player from trade]-Lokionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Zubrus
Poni-Zajac-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier
3 lines that are of top 6 quality depending on if and who Lou acquires. I'd like some like Tanguay or possible Camalleri. All four lines can score. This team can do better than last season with the right move.
This team would be insane with that healthy lineup there, maybe inject Cams for youth purposes over Tanguay. I personally like Ladd, MacArthur and Erikkson to fill the LW void. In reality any of those guys would make our team whole. |

The forwards might be better but our D has slowed down a lot since last year and Marty is physically falling apart. |

I was saying tanguay months ago.
I think we do nothing and simply insert Zubrus on that top lw. The lines we have now are working great. I like carter with Zajac and Bernier with Elias-Henrique. They give our lines more jam and punch. Poni can play with gionta and cantstopolous |
