We obviously disagree. In my opinion energy and work ethic was not the issue. And it isn't for the most part with this team.
Opening shifts, Grossmann pinches with no real play on the puck. They chip the puck past him and Ponikarovsky is off on a 2 on 1, and Bryz makes a great save. Effort and being flat is not the reason. It's the way they play, not being flat. - MJL
i agree with you about "the way they play". i also believe they were flat the first several minutes of the game. the first shift started the whole thing. i thought they picked up their energy and work ethic starting with the rinaldo shift and penalty he drew. that's all i'm going to say about it. |

Funny (or not), but I remember the same sort of thing being spoken about Roman Cechmanek before he came over. |

Roman was a stellar goalie...in the regular season...the playoffs not so much, aside from the Ottawa debacle where we scored a massive 2 goals all series by Fedotenko and McGillis? |

The Flyers had three of them in a short period of time.
Best forward not in the NHL: Jiri Dopita
Best d-man not in the NHL: Michal Sykora
Best goalie not in the NHL: Roman Cechmanek
EDIT: 2/3's late. |

he is hands down the best goalie the flyers have had since hextall's first few years. i didn't think he was poor in the playoffs either. not as good, but not bad, and certainly not why they lost. |

Flu is really only debilitating for a few days. Enough symptom fighters and you can get back at it. They're also in much better shape than most all of us. Which Flyer was it that scored scored like 4 goals, when he had the flu? - Flyskippy
They also use the word "flu" to mean not only influenza but also any flu-like symptoms (which can just be a cold, but who misses a game with a cold? better to say flu) and any gastro-intestinal thing. Most of those stomach viruses last only a day or two and recovery can be greatly enhanced by intravenous liquid delivery. |

He was prone to bad goals in the playoffs that wouldnt have a chance in the regular season.
Gotta read Roenick's book and see his review of Roman....it is hilarious |

JR's treatment of Cechmanek soured me on him, gotta admit. Goalies get a raw deal. |

There is a very good chance that Bob has thrived in Columbus because the pressure of playing between the pipes in Columbus isn't even close to Philly. Alot of guys in various sports have thrived when they have left the pressurized market to a not so much pressure situation. - Oneonta Penguin
Bob put up a .915 sv % as a rookie in a foreign country where he didn't speak the language on a smaller rink than he was used to. Bob handled the pressure in Philly just fine.
This is all on Lavi and his horrific handling of goalies. |

I posted on the Senator thread that they should approach the Flyers and see about doing a straight up deal Lehner for Voracek. Lehner is arguably the best developed young goalie to come along since Cary Price. In Sweden, he is regarded as a possible successor to Lundqvist on the national team.
Anyway, Senator fans said I was nuts and Ottawa would never do that deal, they would want more than Voracek.
So, may as well give Flyer fans a chance to reciprocate and say the same thing from the opposite point of view. - spatso
For the most part I have enjoyed your posts but you've lost me on this one.
Jake has been the most effective guy for this team all year, is signed to a reasonable deal. I can't imagine them trading him for Lehner. I hate to think about the Flyers without Jake right now. He is nearly the only guy who can hold onto the puck for more then 2 seconds and make an effective play.
And if Ottawa, it would be hard to trade Lehner, as he could be their long term #1 in net.
Please go back and ask them what they want for Ben Bishop. Is a mid round draft pick enough? That trade makes sense for both teams. |

Adam Hall on waivers eh? Always thought he'd be a good fit as that low cost, 4th line center that can win faceoffs. Only problem is, with the way this season is looking, no real reason to claim him unless it's with the intention of grabbing him now to possibly make it easier to sign him over the summer.
Edit: Leight as always |
