The media does drive a lot of the hatred. These clowns see a big contract for a goalie and it's immediate justification to shred a guy.
There's enough mouth breathing fans that listen to WIP or read the paper and think these clowns are experts and parrot what they say. - Jsaquella
Exactly.. its infuriating.
I have 5 or 6 guys on my hockey team that do it all the time. Drives me nuts...

I dont think any of us are surprised that a Flyer player gets traded and goes on to have a good career. Mike Richards said the flyers taught him how to win. The Flyers seem to give up on the players they need to win? |

so ratchet up the pressure and he folds? how does price deal in MTL? - isaiah520
Price in Montreal, Lundqvist in NY, Thomas then Raask in Boston.
If the team plays good defense in front of a goalie the goalie will play better. It also helps to not start 26 of 28 games in the space of two months. |

That can be attributed to a few reasons.
1. Flyers dug an early season hole
2. No credible backup goaltender - PLindbergh31
Early Season hole, I think is legitimate. No credible back up is a bunch of BS.

So every fan base has its idiots. Some "Flyers fan" (i use that term loosely) called a "sports radio show" (WIP, I also use the term loosely here as well) to say he has a "friend" who has "inside information" on a very interesting option for the Flyers.

bryz made enuf of his own misery last yr. when he started well this yr, i mostly heard that "he hasn't been the problem". the thing that gets me about the media here is the shear ignorance they have about the flyers and hockey in general. |

They have no idea. Follow Tocchet and Therien on twitter. They joke about how terrible the coverage is from time to time. |

owners should stay out of the personnel biz, but this is an very old story w/ the flyers - isaiah520
Homer should go all Les Grossman (one 'n') on Snider:
"Wow. You're a great American. This fanbase owes you a huge debt. Now shut the (frank) up and let me do my job!" |

A better way to say it is, no back up the head coach seemed comfortable using on a semi-regular basis.
The early hole was a factor, but it seems clear that Laviolette doesn't have a ton of faith in either Leighton or Boucher. |

Timonen will be ok for another year, but that cap hit is outrageous. Mez might as well be nicknamed Mr. Glass...as much as I like his game when he's healthy, that happens to infrequently. I like Grossmann and L. Schenn, so again the team still needs at least 3 more defenders and for heavens sake no more giant tree stumps on the back end and get someone with good passing and has a shot from the point. - aantny88
I don't see calling Meszaros Mr.Glass as being accurate. This is his fourth Season with the Flyers. The first two Season he played 81 games each Season. He's just had some bad luck injury wise with the back injury, then the freak Achillies off season injury, and then spraining a shoulder. Hopefully he can stay healthy. The Flyers don't need 3 defenseman. They need one for the future.

If the Flyers want to develop Gustafsson as an NHL defenseman he should be playing games with them. There is nothing more for him to accomplish playing games in the AHL.
Recall him, and put Gervais on waivers. I'm sick of seeing that guy. - PLindbergh31
I disagree. With the way the Flyers are playing as a team, it makes sense to get Gustafsson out of that environment and let him be the lead defenseman in the AHL for the rest of the year. And he may not be completely healthy. Gervais is fine in the right role on a team that actually play defense as a team.

Not to be a jerk, but the problem with goalies in Philly is the way they are treated by the fanbase. Say what you will, every goalie in the world is not soul of stone Ron Hextall. Hockey players in general constantly give votes of confidence to their tenders. Reason: they need it. Keep hating Philly, keep hating. - nbartley9

Shouldn't come as a surprise that the coach doesn't have faith in the two guys that precipitated the entire "Never again" comment from Snider. But once again the retread dujours are back in the fold. |

The mix of players on the blueline is very ill conceived. Too many similar type players. - PLindbergh31
They need one player to have the right mix.

I posted on the Senator thread that they should approach the Flyers and see about doing a straight up deal Lehner for Voracek. Lehner is arguably the best developed young goalie to come along since Cary Price. In Sweden, he is regarded as a possible successor to Lundqvist on the national team.
Anyway, Senator fans said I was nuts and Ottawa would never do that deal, they would want more than Voracek.
So, may as well give Flyer fans a chance to reciprocate and say the same thing from the opposite point of view. - spatso
The Flyers aren't going to trade Voracek for a Goalie that is unestablished. Voracek is on his way to being an All Star player.

That is incorrect. This is only his 3rd with the Flyers and has played only 81 games once. Other than that though, in 8 seasons he has played at least 81 games 5 times so not Mr. Glass level. However, I wouldn't mind trading him if the return was decent. |

And who is that one player? A legit # 1 pairing guy. They are growing on trees. Holmgren should take a bike ride and go pick one and put him in his basket. |
