I would like to see the flyers come out and play a true flyers brand of hockey and beat the tar out of the devils. Fight them hit them and make them not want to come out on the ice after the first period. A game like that can turn everything around for this team they might not make the playoffs but they can sure make it interesting for the rest of the season. |

No silly... The Islanders. Gervais was an anchor on their backend. |

Hey now, I had alot of time to observe during my time away, and hatred is what I blame for Philly's goalie woes. - nbartley9
Observe what exactly? Bryzgalov's bedroom? Boucher's kitchen?
I don't know what proof you're offering that Philly fans cripple goalies. Maybe it has to do with the organization's inability to provide a good defensive team in front of them (case in point: Leighton was a world beater for most of the 09/10 season when the team had its best blueline in 15 years). Which also explains why goalies are generally awful in Flyers/Penguins games as there is little attention paid to defense. |

While I am open to moving guys like Coburn or Meszaros, I don't see a need for a total overhaul of the defensemen.
Look around the NHL. The Flyers defense isn't that terrible. It's not the best mix, but it's a capable group. When the are used properly.
As Bill has often said, if you flip the Devils and Flyers defense corps the other night, the Devils still win. The group the Devils have is largely the same group that went to the SCF last season.
The coach has to use what he has on hand properly. If you have Erik Karlsson, you don't ask him to be Johnny Boychuk. And if you have Johnny Boychuk, you don't ask him to be Erik Karlsson.
In the Flyers case, Luke Schenn is being asked to be Chris Pronger and Erik Gustafsson is being asked to be Matt Carle. Recipe for failure. |

His claim really isnt all that outlandish. Philly is known for hating its superstars anyway. Look how they went from loving Richards to hating him. Look at Howard. Look at Schmidt. McNabb... |

I disagree. With the way the Flyers are playing as a team, it makes sense to get Gustafsson out of that environment and let him be the lead defenseman in the AHL for the rest of the year. And he may not be completely healthy. Gervais is fine in the right role on a team that actually play defense as a team. - MJL
It's more important for Bruno Gervais to play games on a bad team, opposed to having a young player get some NHL experience. Doesn't make much sense to me. |

A better way to say it is, no back up the head coach seemed comfortable using on a semi-regular basis.
The early hole was a factor, but it seems clear that Laviolette doesn't have a ton of faith in either Leighton or Boucher. - Jsaquella
I really don't think it has anything to do with it. In fact I think Laviolette is completely comfortable with Leighton as the backup and is in favor of him as the backup. As this team has dug a bigger and bigger hole. The Coach is simply going to ride his top dog. And that's what he's done. It's been desperation to try and win due to the lack of a margin of error that the struggles this Season has had.

And who is that one player? A legit # 1 pairing guy. They are growing on trees. Holmgren should take a bike ride and go pick one and put him in his basket. - PLindbergh31

The Flyers seem to give up on the players they need to win? - vejim
Other than the year they went to the cup and lost they did nothing with Mike Richards. Yes the Shift was great as was Giroux's shift in the elimination game against the Pens. What did both add up to , nothing because they didn't win anything in either year.
The Flyers get two players back that are younger , have more points and have better contracts then Richards.
Seriously I loved Richards and Carter as players..I love Voracek, Simmonds , Schenn and Couturier more then either of those they were traded for..
Let it go man..This team has issues that would look worse if either of those trades never happened. |

Reactions on this website to games during games after games. The Flyers/Pens games have only recently been out of control in the goals scored area. The games as of late seem to be a case of lets shoot eachother as many times as we can before we drop to the ground type of thing. |

That is incorrect. This is only his 3rd with the Flyers and has played only 81 games once. Other than that though, in 8 seasons he has played at least 81 games 5 times so not Mr. Glass level. However, I wouldn't mind trading him if the return was decent. - psuhockey \
