He does'nt hit, back check, 9 out of ten passes he makes are on the opposing teams sticks. He sucks. Maybe second line player you could'nt put him the third line for the reasons I stated. He would not be putting up points if he was'nt playing with JT. - Cptmjl
I agree that he doesnt hit and back check... His passing isnt that bad, may just seem that way cuz he is trying to high-risk passes, trying spring Moulson or JT...
Just generalizing your statment... Same thing goes for Mouslon, PAP... They dont do these things either... But PAP not playing with JT is putting up points... So you just dont know. Boyes also isnt asked to play a physical role playing on the 1st line. I think he can hit but chooses not too... (Ive seen a bunch of times this year, players go to hit Boyes and Boyes stand them up, so he has strength)
Not all players can do everything... Fans could score more then he does but he is asked to be a defensive forward so he doesnt take extra risks... He might be able to play a 3rd line role if they asked him to play a more defensive game but thats not what they are asking him to do.
I think a lot of players could do a lot more on offense or a lot more on defense but are asked (or told) to play this way or that way for the betterment of the team...

I just wish they would ask Okposo to go home... - Bags502
I think Brock Nelson is going to be our #2 center. Strome and niño add into our top 6. Going to be very deep soon.

I hope so... Lookin forward to seeing them all move up within the next couple of years... Will get that consistant secondary scoring the Isles are very much lacking.
I was hoping for either gudbranson or fowler in 2010. Niño's stock went up cause of his performance in the wjc tournament and playoff performance for the winterhawks. Not for that he would've went between 10-15. I had us taking Couturier since he had size and was an early favorite for 1st overall. Strome made me nervous cause scouts said he has the potential to take a game over, but has the makings of a major bust if he doesn't make adjustments.
Speaking of strome, he's got 94 points in 53 games in the OHL. According to the hockey rumors & trades page on facebook had he played a full 68 game season he would be on pace for 120 points. More then John Tavares scored in his final two OHL seasons. Tavares had 118, and 104 points. Ain't that something

Hamilton was a year later...when we drafted Strome. Fowler was the big one on the board the year we drafted Nino. I can't believe he fell as far as he did. I'm always a fan of picking the top guys who are late fallers for seemingly no reason. I actually wanted the Isles to take Nino and Strome before both drafts, but when we were going to the podium in both years, I felt we should have grabbed the fallers...Fowler and Couturier. - UIF
I was very happy with the Strome selection, but thought we should have taken Connolly over Nino...I thought the most interesting thing about Nino was his name.
Dammit...now I'm doing it (confusing years)
All successful teams that build through the draft usually get bounced a couple of times rather quick in the playoffs. Playing meaningful playoff like games the last week of the season would do this team wonders. They have been out of it by thanksgiving the last 5 years - Isles316
I think the Isles have started to show some resiliency this season which was missing the last few years. Bouncing back from a bad loss in Pitt, recovering from a killer OT loss to the Rangers, and playing well on the road are signs of maturtity. Still alot of problems, our 2nd line is virtually non-existent being outplayed most nights by Martin-Casey-and Mcdonald. We are terrible 5 on 5, and our defense would get beat up in a 7 game series. That said, outside of the Pens and Bruins there is not one team in the Eastern Conference I don't think the Isles could play with in a playoff series. Just get there and lets see what happens

Actually, as I recall, I wanted us to drop down and take Jamie Oleksiak in 2011. But felt if we went forward, it should of been Couturier. I did think that Strome was the most talented of the bunch but worried about his size.
It was Brett Connolly I liked over Nino but was happy with either.
They might get killed if they make the playoffs, but the Isles need to get there. They have to start showing some growth, some improvement. Going from 13 or 14 in the conference to a playoff team shows improvement. It gives the young guys a taste of playoff hockey and improves the image of the team to potential free agents. I don't care if they get blown out in four games, as long as they get into the playoffs in the first place. - Jethro09
I agree...it's crucial they make the playoffs. I think it's crucial for the organazation and the fans. If i get four games to cheer them on...i'll take it. Once there you never know what could happen. Perhaps Ko and Bailey start clicking.
