Bogo.... What a stud. - PLindbergh31
Just checked my fantasy team and saw he has 17 PIM tonight. Cant wait to see what happened. The Jets quietly have a very good D group in Enstrom, Bogo and Buff. |

He's been incredible of late.
Good thing Laviolette gave him a whole period to prove himself in the playoffs and decided to play him behind Leighton. That's a great coach that deserves to keep his job no matter what. - Jsaquella
I remember at the time thinking it was a ridiculous panic ridden move on Lavy's part.

I tried to put a positive spin on it at the time, but I never expected the carousel to swing as wildly as it did. I also never expected Bobrovsky to end up in the press box, behind both Boucher AND Leighton. |

The whole thing was baffling. And I don't think that it was coincidence that the only game they were competitive in against Boston was the final game that Bob started.

When a guy gets a 9 year $51mm deal, he doesn't have to look over his shoulder at anyone, really |

he struggled in came bob, that didn't help his confidence any I guess, it's not like he has to worry about the other 2 guys, when he struggled a little this year.

I definately have my own opinions and I frequent these comments all day long, year after year. I'm always checking for updates, rumors and just good hockey talk from fellow Flyers/hockey fans. Not sure why I don't say much. I guess that to me is a lurker (and why I call myself one) I'm always here... just never post. |

Wasn't that the excuse everyone gave for Bryz's play last year? That he wasn't given enough starts because of the backup? Holmgren took care of that excuse in a very decisive way.
As people have mentioned previously, Holmgren was in a bad position because of how Bob was handled the previous year. Can't send him down and playing him caused issues with Bryz's play.
All hell will break loose if Bob finishes the regular season as a Vezina caliber tender this year. Bryz may yet live up to his contract but Bob has exceeeded Bryz's contract at a fraction of the cost and has a much longer career ahead of him than Bryz.

Slowest thread I've seen in months. Everyone channeling their inner Irish today? - bgratch
I am 1/4 Irish with an Irish surname. I consider the parades of people in green getting drunk off their asses as a tribute to St. Patrick to be the Irish form of blackface. |

Laviolette buried Bobrovsky so badly he started him in the Winter Classic last year. Bobrovsky was traded by Holmgren because he couldn't afford there to be a goaltender controversy after overpaying Bryzgalov. Had to protect the investment by signing absolute stiffs to back up Bryzgalov so there would be no legit alternative.
If Bryzgalov is bought out, and the Flyers are once again searching for a goaltender while Bobrovsky excels in C-Bus, it's going to look real dumb. |

Funny.
I'm 1/2 Irish with an Irish surname and I consider the parades of people in green getting drunk off their asses as a tribute to St. Patrick to be absolutely terrific...that is as long as they are having a wonderful time with friends while not placing themselves or those around them in danger, and are respectful to others and their property.
As I raise my glass of Guinness to all of you Buzzers out there, have a happy and healthy St. Patty's day! |

Actually, it was Laviolette's handling of the goalies, especially Bobrovsky, in the playoffs that brought Bryzgalov to the fold in the first place.
The 9 year, $51mm contract meant that Bobrovsky was going to be traded at some point before he hit RFA, because there was little chance that he was staying put with no chance of being the starter.
Regardless of the start in the Winter Classic, Bobrovsky's fate in Philadelphia was sealed by Laviolette taking him from starting goalie to press box body after twenty minutes of play and the subsequent circle jerk that Laviolette did in net.
The Winter Classic start was a case of locking the barn after the horse ran away. Laviolette's asinine handling of goalies sealed Bob's fate long before January 1st, 2012. |

I disagree with Laviolette benching Bobrovsky in the playoffs after a rough start. That being said, it doesn't necessitate a trade just because a high price goalie was brought in. Nothing wrong with having two guys in case of injury or if one falters. Salaries and cap hits be damned. |
