I agree we have good org. And I love the fact we are bold but be honest. Nationally it's been the same thing for 30 years!!!! Goaltending and defense!!! That's all I was referring to as laughing stocks. Come on we had lindros,recchi,brindamour,etc... And couldn't win a cup. That's as bad as buffalo not winning cup with hasek. - SMS4016
Because all you need are a few pieces in place.
Winning a Cup is like grocery shopping! I'll take this....this.....anndddd...thissss...and this.....and then you checkout and win! |

unfortunately my tongue is sore from being clenched between my teeth these days... my eardrums are in turn perforated so to speak. - JoeRussomanno
I mean, the Flyers have made mistakes, but they've generally been made trying to win a Stanley Cup, not by trying to save a nickel. When you make bold and aggressive moves, you're going to make a mistake or two. |

That part I agree with wholeheartedly. Actually, I'm one of the few not suggesting that it's absolutely vital to get a number one defenseman at any cost. - Jsaquella

Who knows, maybe if we had a more structured system, (players to buy in on it), it would be different, I think another top 4 D man is paramount for next year though, (not necessarily a #1), as the cost would weaken another area/position on the team. |

The front office has put together some impressive teams, and six or seven finals appearances since their last championship is nothing to scoff at. If the Eagles went to the superbowl but lost every 5 years those idiots would be admiring from their closets. Going head to head against IMO the best team of all time twice while losing what could have been the best goalie of that era to a tragic accident is beyond their control. But if you bring that up it's making excuses or being a homer. Whatever I enjoy the team for the most part. Of all the teams in that city they give you by far, the biggest bang for your buck period. |

It depends on what happens with the coach and other changes made between now and camp.
If they miss the playoffs, it's not impossible that they don't have a different GM and coach. |

Come on guys be serious. With all the talented teams we've had the last 30 years you have to admit it's sad we haven't won even one cup in that time. Yes we've had alot of success and alot of good Runs and it's been exciting but not winning at least one cup and for the same reason always ( goaltending or defense) does make us a little bit of a laughing stock. Yes alot of teams would trade places with us but still... How the Hell haven't we gotten even one!!!! |

Coach has 2 years left?, (I couldn't imagine Homer going), but yea, anythings possible, seems radical in a lockout shortened season, but you never know what Snider is feeling. |

oh yea and the early 80's islanders weren't too shabby either. Getting back to 76 tho, losing bernie to injury wasn't exactly luck. |

I think if they lost both against NJ, Laviolette would have been fired by now.
I could see Holmgren walking the plank, too. I'm sure Ron Hextall could have his arm twisted to return. |
