On that list there's zero "great" options...couple of good ones, but they'll be overpaid second pair guys like Smid and Hainsey. Whitney would be interesting, assuming he'd accept a "Let's see what happens" deal, sort of like Souray did a couple years ago.

I'd be shopping Briere, Gagne and Fedotenko. I'd be listening to offers for Hartnell, Talbot, Coburn and Meszaros.

I'd buy out Briere if he didn't have a taker/waive his clause. I'd be open to re-signing Gagne this summer if I did trade him, too.

I think you need a mix and this team lacks a puck moving defenseman who can also help on the PP. Would be nice to have an offensive defenseman on this current roster.

I think you need a mix also, and they do lack a puck moving defenseman. But I view Yandle the same as Carle. A nice #2 defenseman to have on the roster. But not as your lead defenseman. If we had ample Cap space, then I'm all for it. I'd rather have a defenseman that can play all situations. Yandle isn't that player. But the other problem is that it's really hard to get that all situations defensman. So they might have to go this route, and not have a true #1.

Just doesn't excite me. There's nothing to his game that really stands out. Smallish offensive type defenseman, that really isn't that good offensively.

Thats what negotiations are all about. Phoenix will start off with a ridiculous offer and then its the GM's job to counter it. I won't count out getting Yandle.
