until this season i was a huge pommer fan and felt he was very under appreciated.
but his play has slipped big time. i notice glaring mistakes regularly and some are of the lazy variety (which shocks me to see). frustration maybe??
for a culture change he HAS to go. fair or not he is the face of this teams failures.
oh- and he should have been the one blasting kaleta's behavior- not miller.
never the goalie... - battelmt
The guy can definitely provide offense but the other aspects of his game suck. There is no future for the big 3 in buffalo. They've never done anything on their own and by the time they get enough suppor here those guys will be 35. They should not be dominating the room or the Payroll any longer. |

i think a big reason that era is so beloved right now is because they had an identity. something they could cheer for. and this area identifies more with that type of team than it does with the 06-07 presidents trophy team. - battelmt
And that's the problem. It's not a championship mentality. |

Hearing Millers actual response on WGR as oposed to seeing it written was much worst. |

It was. Had Mike Harrington not jumped the gun on twitter, this wouldn't even be a conversation. |

You are kidding me right???
That puck was redirected to Ovi by Johansson... Pommer was going directly to where the puck was traveling.. and against his momentum tried to put his stick back...
yea... trade Pommer for playing where hte puck was going and you are the dumbest GM walking the planet... even for an arm chair gm. - JVince11

I miss Schoney n Korab, I miss Brad May, Rob Ray
Maybe Barnaby a little bit
This team is no fun to watch
Nobody is afraid to play us
They check the date they play in Buffalo so they can win one - JerryKorab
It's funny, as I actually think we have that "tough" team in place if they would just choose to play it that way. We went out and got Ott and Scott. While Ott has played the style of game you are seeking, having Scott and Kaleta on the bench takes that style out of play. Add McCormack and maybe Ellis back into the mix. Bring McNabb and Pardy back up. Talk about hard-working and tough to play against.

Bottom line guys like Ott and Kaleta have the old school desire to hit you score on you the drive old school mentality to do what it takes to win.You cant be a soft team avoiding checks afraid to hit or run a guy thru a wall and win.As much as I hate them you want a team built like Boston.People should fear coming into our house.Well beat you then well score on you too. |

I did on youtube before replying... you can clearly see the puck go straight to the tip of johannsson's stick who taps it to Ovi who is skating forward toward the trajectory of the puck.. pominville was going to the trajectory as well and tried to get back to at least break it up... |

Thats why I dont blame Darcy or think he making the decissions. He brought in the players made the deals and now this coach is not using them. |

Agreed.... Kaleta should have played... he was one of the few guys who had a "give-a-sh!t" meter every game....

Scott and Kaleta were both removed from the ice by league. I'm starting to wonder if the league isnt manipulating teams by threatening them about their rough guys. Kaleta suspended on a hit that when I watch was dangerous, but suspect by Richards too. Now he's benched? Scott was just flat out removed from a game for talking. Our guys have gotten hit from behind 4 times since with the result of 1 minor penalty. I think the league is telling teams how they want their game played. |

Meltdown of epic proportions in the locker room will lead to a house cleaning and a rebuild. This is all a blessing in disguise |

"They can't put it on the internet if it isn't true." - State Farm commercial lady
That article is wrong. I'm going to drop it. I don't really care. My initial point was that people long for that era because of some misguided notion that they needed effort, not talent, to get them success, which was incorrect. They did have talent that year, talent at the goaltender position, which was THE reason they got as far as they did. - buffalofan19
Everything online that I've seen disputes that but, whatever
I have been informed that you are always right, so I bow down |

It started at the end of Nolan's first year, 1996. I was there and it was awesome. The team finished below .500, but played balls out every night. If anyone messed with a guy on the Sabres, the remaining four guys on the ice would jump in, every single time.
The city loved that team. The crowds were loud, every night. Ray, May, Barnaby, Boughner, Varada - a tough, team oriented crew. I went to about a dozen games that year and even though they lost more than they won, the fans loved that team (repeating myself).
The next year they beat the Sens in 7 games in the first round. Plante scored the game winner in OT. Pretty effing wild that night. I still remember the guys jumping off the bench after he scored. Audette stopped, turned back and hugged Nolan.
They lost to Philly in the next round and Nolan never coached another game for the Sabres. That summer Quinn fired Muckler and hired Darcy who low-balled Nolan, and then hired Lindy.

Robitaille was on GR this morning and he thinks it could be a potential issue. He said he wouldn't be surprised if Miller divided the locker room by running his mouth |

And things were going so well before he opened his yap.
This team is awful. Nothing is going to change without major roster moves and a new GM. Just not sure I want Darcy making any moves if he's a goner. |
