And Suter isn't part of the reason this is happening? Don't kid yourself a good d-man like him is able to get the puck out of the zone so that the offense can do their thing. - Lahey
Agreed. Suter's absence is hurting the Preds on the offensive side much more than the defensive side. We lost our main puck mover and it shows.
Do you think that it's worse to try and make a move to push for the playoffs, potentially make it and get ousted OR sell it off and begin a rebuild.
There are two perspectives to consider...
1. for the long-term stability of the franchise (Greater than 3-5 years), a sell off and asset recapture might be the smartest idea. Gather as many picks for guys outside of the select few (Rinne, Klein, Josi, Weber, Wilson, Borque, Hornqvist, etc) and start the process sooner now... or
2. for the short-term fanbase of the team. Now, maybe - hopefully - we have reached a point where the fans are beginning to stick around as more and more of us have grown with the game/already had a love of the game before the Preds came to be. But, I still have fears, and maybe they're just a tad bit biased, that the fans wouldn't respond unless we took the all-in approach and went for the playoffs.
The payoffs are great for each. I think the payoffs for perspective 1 are obvious and don't need explaining. But, for perspective 2, is that just as important and can the additional revenue amount to anything? I can't say that it has in the past, but it is a thought in the back of my mind.
I will say that I do not think the Preds are done for the year. There is plenty of time left... 19 games with a more in the friendly confines bodes well for any franchise, and we all know Trotzy has it in him to get his troops rallied behind the goal... but what is most important? Sure, I want to have a "reason" to keep watching the post-season, but I also want this franchise to be a top team one day and bring Stanley Cups to Nashville.
Per Ryan Suter. I think I only want to make the playoffs and hope the Wild don't just to tick him off. Or at least have the Preds have a longer season... every season for the next decade.
Yeah, I was thinking about that the other night because Edmonton does a synth orchestra/drum shot at the end of the period, and it annoyed me just like that Sharks crap after goals. I'm glad we don't do that. - Predaceous

Also, according to Timmy P tonight is Kimmo's 1000th game. Congrats Kimmo
Personally, I like hearing "I Like It, I Love It" after goals. It's uniquely Nashville, and it's a tradition now. I don't want to be like everyone else who needs to have a song filled with shouts of "Hey", "Whoa-o" or, God forbid, something as hideously annoying as Chelsea Dagger. I wouldn't mind changing the Rock And Roll Part II portion of the goal song, but I want to keep the Tim McGraw song. - Predaceous
I wish someone had never thought of the Tim McGraw song. It is hideously stupid... and I love country music.
Taylor Beck called up ...big news for the Preds - broadstreet11
I'm excited to see him play! Thought he would have made it up before Bourque, hopefully Taylor sticks for the rest of the season. Gabby has been a great spark this year. I guess DP wants Watson to get a full season of AHL under his belt before he makes his debut.

I honestly don't understand all the hatred lately (not just you) for our traditions with our team. Why the desire to change everything? We will not have something that everybody likes--can we agree on that? But we have built a tradition for what happens after goals are scored, they are uniquely ours, and everybody in the arena is pumped up while celebrating our traditional way. Why broke it if it ain't fixed. We all have different music tastes. If the music is not your taste or offensive to you, then bring an I-pod to listen to during the game, okay?
Agree the Tim McGraw song is terrible. It was cute when the team was born, it gave us an identity, but I agree with those that think it is time for a change.

Granted, not everyone can have Brass Bonanza... - Pucky the Whale
I'll take Tim McGraw over Brass Bonanza any day, all day. That song sounds like a game show theme.

"...and I love country music." Says it right there. I saw it, hell, I wrote it. I don't want a bunch of change. Just commenting that particular thing because it's really bad. Fang fingers was stupid from the beginning as well. Don't fret wings, you can keep that one too.

Is it possible that trotz has lost this team? I am beginning to think it is possible.

Alot of the traditions are embarassing and uninspired. The catfish is a ripoff of the octopus. Chanting so and so sucks is juvenile. The only original thing that this team had was the tootoo whistle and having famous musicians play occasionally during intermission. Chanting sucks after goals and calling other players sissy just makes you look like an ass. Cheer, clap and so on, but leave that other stuff at home.
