If their season was over today they could pick anywhere from 3rd to 7th with a good chance of moving to 1. - mayorofangrytown
Just looking at their schedule they have 8 games total remaining against the Bruins, Pens, Rags, Devils, and Habs. Don't see a whole lot of points coming out of those games. |

Pretty deep draft from what I have ascertained. You have the big 4. Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon, and Barkov. And some very other talented kids. I have read that outside the top 10, there is a fairly significant drop off in talent. - PLindbergh31
You are missing Valeri Nichushkin & Sean Monahan as ones who may be able to crack a roster from the start.
Top 10 potential is good and beyond that it just keeps going. |

Just met Marty Biron recently during the lockout he brought his car to my work for collision repair (in Buffalo) .. Stayed to sign autographs and talk hockey with us for a little while. Cool guy, wish he was our current backup - Trainfellow
Back in 2009 him and his agent thought he could get starter money somewhere, but then he ended up going to the Islanders for only $1.4 million. |

I'd take Drouin and trade stuff on the roster. Drouin could be the next Giroux. I take that in a heartbeat and trade other items. He'd step in and easily be one of the most talented players on the roster....you don't trade that. - Jsaquella

I'd say pretty impossible to get a top 3 pick if we make the playoffs.
So yeah, that discussion is a moot point. - KGBflyers10

It projects to be like 2003... a lot of potential star players in the top-60 picks. They could miss the boat on the top-4 and still end up with a hell of a player.
Unlike 2007, this is a great year to suck. |

You think we're making the playoffs? At what point, after the last two weeks, do you give up the dream? - mayorofangrytown
When they are officially out of the playoff race.
They had one of the toughest first halves out of all the teams. maybe they turn it around in the second half. |

Then its time to pull at Penguins/Devils 1984 impression, which was who can lose the most games and get Lemieux. No point finishing with 48-52 points and in 9th-11th place. If they can't win tonight and take at least 3 points in their next 2 against Pittsburgh and the Rangers (good luck with that), its time to tank.
If Briere doesn't want to waive his clause, inform him he will be centering the 4th line and killing penalties for the rest of the year. Shut down Timonen for the season, use his foot for the excuse, and keep him as fresh as possible for next year. Trade Gagne (you can always resign him in the offseason), Fedotenko and any other vet you can get a decent return for and if Giroux gets even a paper cut or a bruise on his pinky, you sit him out too.
What the heck, may as well pull a Pittsburgh and get a top 5 pick! |

Tampa could drop them in the standings tonight. Games against everyone has been tough lately. Buffalo stinks and we didn't exactly roll them. We've already dropped a game to Florida. |

Highly unlikely that Florida will move what will probably be the 1st or 2nd pick overall for Couturier unless you are including the Flyers own 1st and that pick would need to be no lower than 10th or 11th to get the deal done. |
