Well when they signed Bryzgalov that was the general idea to get tremendous goaltending from him. Point taken though, Flyers don't seem to have answers for teams that play that style. Florida shouldn't be able to implement that style and beat the Flyers. The second home loss was the second night of a back to back after the big win in Pittsburgh. They also found out Read was supposed to be out 6 weeks that day. I can give them somewhat of a pass for that loss. - PLindbergh31
Regardless of the general idea, we can only deal with the reality. Any team that implements that system can give the Flyers a hard time and/or win the game. Tampa did it too them....remember the 1-4 game? Tampa sat back all night, the Flyers didn't skate the puck up, Tampa ended up winning by simply waiting for Laviolette to get impatient and open it up. |

Flyers are 15th in Goals Scored per Game (2.62) and 24th in Goals Against per Game (3.00). I'd say Team Defense needs to step up because they're spending too much energy just getting out of their zone, more on trying to get it deep, and then not much is happening. The goalie needs to be better, but he sure doesn't have to be bombarded game-in and game-out.
If you limit the chances, you limit the shots.
If you limit the shots, you limit the chances of a goal.
If you limit the chances of a goal, you limit the goals against.
Not exactly rocket science. Just math. |

Well... No other team but the Flyers refused to change its own game when the other team adjusted. |

Or that it's exceeding easy to outcoach the Flyers staff |

I'm all for getting rid of Reese. The Devils just had a Jacque Caron night, when is the Jeff Reese night at the Wach? |

He probably does. But then again, those teams make adjustments against him as well.

The issue is that the Flyers go past aggressive, and into reckless. A lot of that is built into the system, but it's also on the players to be disciplined in the aggressiveness...the trouble is, there's so much undisciplined play that it becomes chronic. |

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
No surprise, but Andrej Sustr, 6-foot-8 Univ of Nebraska-Omaha junior dman (UFA), has officially decided to leave school/field NHL offers. - ob18
Any scouting reports out on him? I assume he's no pylon at 6'8 if he's one of the hot names out there, but interested to hear about his skating and mobility. |

It's funny, but Elliotte Friedman pointed out that Reese said that Bobrovsky would be a stud when he learned angles and got more comfortable on the smaller ice. |

Well, as you know we always seem to need someone to blame. When all else fails, blame Reese.. even though he coached Leighton into a Hab killing SC Finals goalie.. |

The things I knew about Bob were he had super quick reflexes, athletic, and a tremendous work ethic. There were flashes that made me think he could be a franchise guy in time. Hot streak aside, jury still out on that obviously. |

I have less issue with Reese than I do Neil Little. Little's the goalie bird dog scout. He sold them on Hovinen over Joaccim Ericksson, although he seems to have been good with Stolarz and Heeter, thus far |

Dear God, did you see that wide open point wrist shot from Timonen that he tried to reverse glove grab and it bounced in the air. He played it like a hand grenade. |
