And just when you think the Flyers are a mess....
Enjoy free agency Andrew Bynum! - johndewar
Geiger reincarnated. I liked the deal, but it backfired. In retro Iggy for the Hawks Smith? Either way do not resign Bynum unless he signs a special clause. Use the cap space elsewhere and please lose out. |

if they wind up that bad, so be it. but i can not root for them to lose for a higher draft pick. i think the draft is too uncertain, and i truly believe that gaining momentum at the end (even if they don't make it) can (not necessarily will) help the team heading into next season |

It's all lip service. I don't even pay attention to the interviews. What do you want them to do say we suck, the season is over - PLindbergh31
Nope. They don't have to say that we all know already by the way they play.

That's the only hope for that franchise. The NBA is the league where you don't want to be in limbo (bad enough to miss the playoffs but not bad enough for a high pick) and that's where the Sixers are (and the Flyers are threatening to go). |

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I agree.. It's really a disaster to come in 9-12 seed.. come dead last and get mackinnon or Jones type of player that can be added to the core. The season is a disaster but we can do well if we can come in last and get the third pick overall. - Hextall271
The way Lava is doling out ice time to the forwards, it is certainly a possibility this team is in for a long tailspin. Guys who are totally ineffective but who have higher contracts getting ridiculous amount of ice time compared to guys who make nothing and bust their butt (see Rinaldo). It's not like the supposed higher skilled forwards are scoring more. |

I think a top pick like Jones or even a forward that would allow us to trade forward depth for a dman will help the team in the long run. Look what epic failing has done for Pitt? |

amen to that. i always thought people pay way too much attention to that stuff (which is media driven...they have to sell us something) |

good lord, what an embarrassing final 2:30 - which should be the official end to their season, despite another 18 games remaining on the schedule. losers. (frank)ing losers. - hammarby31
that was ridiculously bad. I laughed out loud at their ineptness.
Also ... with 10 seconds left Timo (I think it was Timo) races back to our zone to get the puck, and then ... FREEZES it against the boards as if WE'RE the team that's up by a goal.
I know there's virtually no shot to do anything with just a few seconds left, but geez at least wing it back up ice so it looks like you know what you're doing.

Gnight.. yep the math no longer is on our side. I hope Homer has the sense to sell and rebuild the d in the offseason. |

I actually kind of agree with him.
We are just bad enough to miss the playoffs but not bad enough to get a high pick. - johndewar
If they get a top ten pick, they will get a fantastic prospect. |

Looking at the schedule a top 5 pick isn't out of the realm of possibility. 8 of the last 18 vs. Rags, Bruins, Pens, Habs. Not many points there at all. |

The fact that Laviolette stapled Hartnell to the bench either shows that:
a.) He's exerting control over the one lever he has (ice time) in motivating these guys.
b.) He's desperate and trying to show Holmgren/management he still has his hands on the wheel.

Outside of the first goal, which was awful, Bryz did play well - Jsaquella
Is it really awful to get beaten 5-hole by a player who's unmarked in the slot? |

yes. consistently losing like that can help you build a great team. but is that what we want? a prolonged period of suckage? i don't think so. i just mean in one season...the draft is too uncertain for me to actively root for losses. just my opinion, though |

Both flyer goals tonight were the result of excellent individual efforts. That is all well and good, but they need to rely on each other as a team too and they have no trust in each other right now. Someone needs to bring back Hitchcock's woo woo trips to Banff for trust building next season. |

The higher the pick the more value to a top 4 D-man. I realize more will be added to the pot, but the higher the pick the more likely a team will deal. |

If they miss the playoffs this team is gonna get a severe makeover. So they might as well come away with a stud prospect. Who needs momentum into next season? That doesnt exist anyway. Just ask the Kings |
