I don't necessarily disagree with you. My concern is that the 5 you mentioned have a combined cap hit of 21.6 million and I would really not want to add much more to that, as even Whitney would most likely cost 2 million plus due to the lack of D on the free agent market. I would rather try and move Mezaros in a package for a better skating, more durable guy like Bouwmeester and try to fill the 6th spot hopefully with a younger guy like Gus or Bourdon or worst case an inexpensive vet.

I'm open to trade Meszaros, but if you move him and bring in somebody else, you're not going to see much difference in cost.

I still think the Preds should be unable to receive revenue sharing due to having a $110 mill contract on their books.

Also, if the owners do not care that they are dumping money into a bottomless pit that they will never get back, why not spend a few more bucks on forwards? They have the 3rd worst goal total in the league.

Excellent points. Especially the first one. I would be hopping mad if I was a "have" owner who needed to fork over money after Nash matching.

I dont think its bad blood...i think the predators trade him where they can get the best value...they are not going to take less just to spite the flyers...if there was a tie in the assets being offered then yes that would be a tie breaker.

When have you ever known the flyers to get beat on a player that they truly covet.

I think that they're absolutely pissed at the Flyers and Holmgren and considering that Weber is basically worth a ton, they'll have plenty of interested teams. I still think that the Flyers would have to top any other offers by a wide margin.

100%

Offer sheeting is still considered a huge no-no in the NHL GM Old Boys Club.

And the way the Flyers structured that contract was a huge FU to Nashville.

Extremely clever, but still a huge FU.

When a player's junior season ends, he can join the AHL. Derek Mathers did it last year and is doing it again this season.

It is. If it was just the Flyers interested, they could get past it maybe....but if they shop Weber, they'll be besieged like WalMart on December 24th

I saw John Goodman on Inside the Actors Studio, he said Lebowski was by far his favorite project. Said he had so much fun on the set he would have done the movie for free.

The scene with the ashes is hysterical.

I do worry about Meszaros' durability, but prior to the last year or so, he had been very durable. The injuries to his ankle and shoulder were kind of freakish.

But I'm open to trading either him or Coburn for a nice package with some higher pick...or even both.

According to Forbes, Nashville is only the 11th worst franchise in terms of operating income.

Friends go down to Nashville once a year to catch a game - they say it's one of the best game experiences in the NHL. Fans aren't particulary knowledgeable, but they are rabid. Add to that the music bars before and after the game, and it's a helluva road trip.

Oh, and everyone there wears a Preds jersey. I knew you would respect that, Hexy.

It will be interesting to see what happens this summer, but if they move Weber and don't get a ton, including some names to sell, they will be hurting.

They have a pretty solid fanbase, but if they dump Weber this summer for the kind of return that Columbus got for Nash, it would have been far better to just not match in the first place.

- Jsaquella

They definitely need a lot back if they're trading Weber. Personally, I don't think there's any way they're trading him. But if they do, they're going to keep that big signing bonus down payment in mind when considering the return.

A couple weeks ago, I saw a tweet from Paul McCann (I think it was him, may be mistaken) that Preds management is still really, really pissed about the offer sheet. Figured it was worth mentioning.

Donny was a good bowler, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling....as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and...up to...Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, and at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so did Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. And so, Theodore Donald Karabotsos, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince

There are certain movies that are like a rock concert rather than just a movie. Monty Python's Flying Circus shows/sketches are like that, too. (John Cleese said the MP shows were like a concert because people were mouthing the words much like they would at a rock concert.)
