In all seriousness, it reminds me a little bit of last year, with a strong top 3 (but no sure-fire superstars like Crosby/Stamkos) and a pretty solid field throughout the first round. If you need offense, you go for MacKinnon and Drouin. If you need defense or have a soul, you draft Jones. Luckily for the forwards, most NHL GMs traded their souls for 3rd round picks long ago.

Ennis can move to wing, Girgensosn will be a wing in the NHL, Catenacci may never even play in the NHL....we have Vanek, Pommer and Armia in the pipeline for scoring wingers....I'd argue we need center just as bad if not worse than wing.

I am hoping that in the next few years......

I still think you could get a better deal for him elsewhere. Especially from a team that's in a win now mode and that Vanek would probably want stay long term (I.E Minnesota)

If it's a high draft pick (top 10), that's all you're getting. It's like the Flyers trading Jeff Carter, but with a less cap-friendly deal.
