Earlier I read we should trade Ott as well? what the hell is going on here? You don't trade away those guys for NOTHING. Schopp and Bulldog brought up some good points about Miller and Pomminville. Miller is always the one doing the talking, but he's the goalie. Pominville is the quiet one.

They said what do you do with Pomminville, de-masculate him and strip the "C" but re-sign him? Let him walk for nothing?

I think the writing is on the wall. The mistake was making him captain(and paying him 5.3 mil per). The choice to make him captain was the climax of the Ruff/Rehgeir post Briere/Drury era to prove themselves right and completely ignore the glaring need to blow it the frank up. Now they are painted in a corner with this guy. I think Pommer is the top candidate to get moved of the 'big 3'.

edit: I think we've all been there where you work at a place and some guy gets bumped up to management and everyone scratches their head and says "Him? Really? I mean we like the guy but....."

And then it really screws up motivation because a second tier guy is an charge and everyone else hits that glass ceiling until something is done about it.

Giving these guys away for nothing but picks does absolutely nothing but set us back 5 more years on top of the 2 years we are now.

You think this team is trending upwards right now? The general consensus amongst fans is that they want to blow it up and start from scratch. This is how you do it. The team will suck for a a couple of years but as you build up young talent over the next three years and combine it with the young players we have now we will be in good shape. I would rather be where Edmonton is right now than where we are. They are trending up and we are going nowhere.

We have no style of play at the moment. More importantly your idea hinges on us either acquiring these players through trade (which would mean giving up valuable young assets) or getting them through free agency which would mean overpaying. (if they even want to come to Buffalo that is.) Either way we don't really improve.

Ennis can move to wing, Girgensosn will be a wing in the NHL, Catenacci may never even play in the NHL....we have Vanek, Pommer and Armia in the pipeline for scoring wingers....I'd argue we need center just as bad if not worse than wing.

The Oilers are going noplace fast, I would bet they trade away one of those number 1 picks for a D man or Goalie. The Sabres won't blow it up Pegula won't let that happen. It doesn't matter what people or the media say, it matter's what Pegula and CO. say.

I might be wrong but I didnt read where the Coach blamed any single player On Ovies first goal but the whole collection of players involved .I guess Garth can spin it into a story and the Pomminville haters can talk about something

You don't give away guys like Vanek, Pommer and Miller, say what you want but they are very good or some would say elite players and you put them on a cup contending team and they become top of the line or elite players.

Bottom 6 centers are not hard to find. Ennis Grigo and Hodgson will be at the top of the lineup. I wouldn't be mad with Mackinnon BTW, just think Drouin would be better

I remember getting killed at the beginning of the 2011-2012 season for saying that if Jason Pominville is the best they can come up with for a captain, then they have problems. There were rumors that Lindy Ruff didn't want his captain to take complete control of the room and overstep his authority at times, like Briere and Drury supposedly did. If that's true, then Pominville was the perfect candidate.

When Pomminville got named captain, no one was like 'oh man Stanley Cup here we come'. It wasn't a horrible decision but its stymied progress as far as building the team.
