He will be bought out in the summer much to the dismay of my dad and I

He said under no circumstance is he waiving his NTC. He loves Philly.
But Philly doesn't love him anymore it seems

I agree with this . He is doing a pretty good job for being a convert .
- cabin

Hes not a convert. Center is his natural position. He was a center in juniors. He was billed as a winger because everyone thought he was too small to be a center.

Intresting, I still like him on the wing in the NHL.

It's funny because it seems that the smaller forwards are benefiting more with the more room to work that center provides than wing does.

Really, all we doing is judging Vanek on his last 11 games????
- Homer

No. But for the last 5 seasons, and over the life of his contract, Vanek has always been a streaky player. We all knew his hot streak that started the season would come to an end. He has faded to black quicker than I can snap my fingers.

He hasnt scored 40 goals in 5 years and failed to reach 30 in 2 of them. 61 pts, 63 pts, 64 pts, 64 pts... all for $7.1M per year.

Would you want to sign here ? Unproven coach, system, management in flux.ownership haveing any clue how to run a pro franchise ? Now you dont even know how long anyone will be here since one of our 2 sacret cows got fired.

Not "out"
But I think it's more likely he's a 15goal scorer in the NHL than a 25 goal scorer
He's never even scored 25 in the USHL
So, if he's going to be "Gaustad 2.0" that's pretty good, all things considered... But if he's a piece I have to move to get someone that can help NOW... Then I'm ok with that too
Say Gigensons + for O'reilly... Or something like that?
That's a trade I'd do
Because for Girgensons to actually develop into a "scorer" in the NHL, as well as a solid defensive center, it's probably going to take a minimum of 3-4 years to get to the point where he's as productive as someone like O'reilly

His offense started coming around nicely, till he got concussed. He reminds me of a Rick Dudley type player. Something this team lacks big time.

Vanek's hardball agent will see to it that he becomes a UFA. My guess is he'll be traded first. Remember the offer sheet and he would not negotiate?

Yep I remember it well. Still have guys claim its Darcy's fault for not signing him sooner . 6 months prior to the deadline . Vanek said he was gonna wait. So easy for some to forget that.

It's the "I'm going to match any offer" and then doing just that which makes Regier an idiot.

You think another team is going to pay a 37 year old Vanek a $7M+ cap hit?
