Because this year has been horrible for most of the team. He deserves a lot of criticism but some people are just over the top to the point where they want him to fail. - sbroads24
I think he is directly to blame for a ton of goals this year. Noone wants him to fail, he's done it on his own.

Beyond the numbers, have you watched him play? It's not like he's been average and overpaid, he's been by FAR the worst defenseman this season, on one of the worst defensive teams in hockey right now. The turnovers have been out of control. Physicality non existent. Offensive abilities non existent. I'm shocked that you're even arguing in favor of him.
Also, just for the record, Suter is a real stay at home guy. Myers is supposed to be an offensive defenseman. Two different styles of play entirely. - BuffaJoe
He's on their first PP unit. He's not stay at home. And Myers has not been our worst defenseman since his benching. He was probably our best of the sad bunch last night.

Suter is their best Dman, and has a great shot, but he's also played with a lot of offensive firepower players. His game is based on strong defensive abilities. In Nashville, Weber was the offensive guy, Suter his stay at home partner. Unlike the Sabres, not every team only rolls out their ODmen on the PP. Suter is a complete player, something Myers has a long way to go towards becoming.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
UNO's college season ended on the weekend. Sustr will weigh his options, and he has many, this week. No rush or timetable on a decision.

+/- is a useless stat. This team as a whole play horrid Defense. EVERY SINGLE ONE. - ImThatGuy
Disagree. Ehrhoff is averaging 25:02/game. Meaning he is on the ice against other teams' top players on a consistent basis, and is still on the ice for more goals for than against. His D is fine.

I will disagree here. People want him to fail. You can hear it in the way they talk about him.
You know who is also directly to blame for a ton of goals, Cody hodgson, Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville.
Ehrhoff was brought here to be a PP specialist, He is not done any of that. He is playing horrid D. I hardly hear anything about him.
No one on this team is playing well. Yet he is always the first person to get called out. I would say that is wanting to fail. - ImThatGuy
I can't speak for anyone else, but as a Sabres fan, why would I want him to fail? Why would any Sabres fan WANT him to fail? Hodgson has been horrible defensively, but has improved a TON offensively. I don't give him a free pass, but I see improvement, and he's a young guy. I think Pominville should be traded, and is one of the biggest problems on the team, not because of production, (though it's been average), but because he's a soft player and we have too many young players that need to aspire to tougher standards. Vanek is usually not responsible for bad goals. Plus, he's easily the best player on the team. Ehrhoff has been our most consistent defenseman. He hasn't been great, but he's been defensively sound for the most part.
Myers has been awful in every aspect of his game, with the exception of a handful of moments in a handful of games. He's also our highest paid player by $4 million this year, and it's no longer an excuse to say that he's young and inexperienced. Nobody wants him to fail, it just is what it is.

Very common misconception. His laziness along the boards or getting out to the points to beat them to lose pucks or jump in a shooting lane has plagued this team for years. It just so happens that this year, everyone on the team sucks at it, not just Vanek.

This discussion is rediculous tonight. This team sucks. Miller played like poop on Sunday and can't shut his mouth (handle business outside of the media), for all the goals Jason Pom has scored he's given the puck away 5X for each goal, Vanek is hurt, again. The entire D has sucked, bar none. No one on lines 2-3 has shown up except Ott... This entire team sucks. Calling out one of them is useless.

I can agree with this to a certain extent, but I can't think of very many instances where that's been the case, where I can think of many more for almost everyone else. Also, not to detract from his responsibilities, because EVERYONE has to be defensively responsible, but the points I was making were in relation to Myers shortcomings this year. Myers's ONLY responsibility is to keep the puck away from the Sabres net. Any offense is a bonus. Comparatively, Vanek has been a saint.
