Disagree. Ehrhoff is averaging 25:02/game. Meaning he is on the ice against other teams' top players on a consistent basis, and is still on the ice for more goals for than against. His D is fine. - Powerslave
Hoff has been a tire fire the last 2 games. Cost us the Ottawa game, and was trying to play goalie last night. Check out the Caps 5th goal. Hoff looked lazier than Vanek

Myers has been awful in every aspect of his game, with the exception of a handful of moments in a handful of games. He's also our highest paid player by $4 million this year, and it's no longer an excuse to say that he's young and inexperienced. Nobody wants him to fail, it just is what it is. - BuffaJoe
From top to bottom this entire problem has been Darcy Regier. He is a reactionary GM, Yet this organization deems him to be a great hockey Mind. Yet he hands out horrid contract after horrid contract.
Darcy never used to negotiate in season. That all changed in 07 with that Drury/Briere/Vanek fiasco. I 100% blame Darcy for that Vanek contract. He could have been had for less but Darcy was to stubborn to break his ways and waited too long to negotiate.
After that day he now negotiates in season. Bad contract after bad contract signed. Myers should have gotten a bridge deal. Stafford should never had gotten 4MM.
People have more problem with the contracts of this team than they do the players on this team. That is 100% on Darcy.

Except for players like Ehrhoff or Vanek. For some reason people think this guy was worth a 10 year deal. Our PP is dead last, he is the QB and it was a huge reason he was signed. Just for that it was a bad signing IMO. Has he been ok defensively, for the most part. But he also has gone on stretches where he completely looks just as lost as Myers. Yet no one says a word about him.

Also, for a big defenseman, there were hardly any clips of him in his own end... No blocking shots, big checks... I think they showed 1 or 2 wall battles where he won the puck?
They certainly didn't focus on his "defense" and the "offense" they showed looked subpar at best...
There's a reason he went undrafted
I wouldn't even give him a tryout based on this footage
There's always a couple guys that sneak though, I'm just not big on this guy

Can you do that since Ruff has been fired? Because his minutes have increased, his +/- has improved. He was sheltered for a while, not anymore - sbroads24
Very common misconception. His laziness along the boards or getting out to the points to beat them to lose pucks or jump in a shooting lane has plagued this team for years. It just so happens that this year, everyone on the team sucks at it, not just Vanek. - theblueandgold
yeah those PPG guys are really lazy. Hodgson is almost a PPG, hes starting to look lazy too.

Even though we have some really nice defensive prospects on the way, McNabb is the ONLY one who projects as a top4 guy that has a strong physical game
4 years from now we could be in the same position we are now with a soft, offensively minded defense group... And we all have seen how that works out

Some people will not except reality. In their mind Pommer is this amazing 2 way hockey player and a great captain. He could be -25 and vanek could be +25 and they would say Vanek is lazy.
