But again even if Pominville wasn't scoring, which he did in fact score more, he still was a better defensive forward who killed penalties. When Vanek isn't scoring his overall game is not very good, at one point Ruff played him with Ellis for a game

Hes had 10 points in 2 games. There goes your 9 point difference.

pommer is a good player. Vanek is better.

Pommer's January 2013 looks like Vanek's December of 2011.

IMO, you will not see salaries like you did with Perry and Getz continuing. That is 25% of salary into 2 players. If it does the league will collapse on itself and we will be right back to lockout talk. Vanek is no where near the talent level of Perry and should be no where close to that salary.

Vaneks cap hit may be 7.1 but his actual earnings are 6.4

I think it's naive to think GMs will all of the sudden stop paying guys
Only a few "studs" come up for free agency each season, and they all get paid very well...
Even guys the stay with their teams rarely accept a "hometown" discount...
Perry & Getzlaf are perfect examples...

But only bc they got 8.25mil a year!!!

Getzlaf and Perry aren't even a superstars. They both had multiple sub 60 point seasons

Getz has never scored 30 goals

Vanek has more career goals and almost as many assists as Perry
