IMO a successful team (even with a rebuild) needs to still have that ONE GUY to transition the team forward or draft a player like a Crosby/Toews type guy that can immediately step in and put up huge #'s.

Edmonton picked up a TON of really talented players but no one was left capable of moving them forward.

Just an opinion.

Yakupov was a bad pick. They needed a d man. Or at least aggressively shop Gagner/Hemsky to acquire that need. They have too many of the same thing in Edmonton. Also doesnt help that Nugent-Hopkins has played like a pig this year.

really, both guys are 30+ (actually i think vanek is 29, you'd know better than me). vanek has a BRUTAL contract/cap hit, which he's never really lived up to until this year.

i think that deal isn't that far off. that's almost as good as the return for nash, and neither of those players would likely get even that much in return.

i do agree that it's unlikely a trade within the division would happen, but you never know. sens have dealt with boston in the past.....and we ALL KNOW that the bruins have dealt with the leafs

What the hell are you doing? Now every Edmonton troll will see this and argue those two to be the best players since Gretzky and Messier.

Agreed. An astute GM (at least in their position of having a forward-heavy team while lacking any defense whatsoever) would have traded down or just flat out picked a D man. Completely agree on the Hemsky/Gagner angle too.

Nuge should come around but without any D on that team they're going nowhere fast. All this after picking first for 100 years in a row.

As much as Ryan will probably be a better player his whole career. I would be hesitant to move Armia+ for him. Just have a feeling Armia might be pretty good.
- sbroads24

From what I've read (which isn't a ton) to what I've seen (which is limited to the WJC and any youtube footage), the kid absolutely loves, and lives for, scoring goals.

I'm not moving him.

Dust off those Stafford, Sekera, and a 3rd proposals for Bobby Ryan!

Pom and Leo and a 4rd pick for Ryan and a 3rd pick

Christ, now we gotta hear about Bobby Ryan from Garth for the next 6 months.

There is no way the Ducks are moving Ryan this year. They have a chance at the cup. I would much rather go after Palmieri. Give them the pieces they need to make their run.

palmieri is on the small side for a team with alot of small already (hes feisty though). but i agree that this is the type of player buffalo should be targeting at this point- younger and ready to blossom...

More rebuild on the fly situations it looks like....

Pommer or Vanek is better mixed in.....

Some Myers is soft sprinkled in....

RR sucks on the side....

and a fresh cup of Miller needs to shut up to dip it in...

what a mean casserole of We SUCK... this is.

Save the Big trade talks for when after this season is over. It doesn't make much sense to move any of our big guys unless the price is really right.

For now, get the RR deal done with L.A. Then move Leo and Staff out if possible and call it a day. Nothing fancy, not yet.

I think we trade Pommer at the deadline.... and then in this off-season we throw huge money at David Clarkson and make him our new captain.

What does that mean??

I would trade them Staff and Regehr for Toffoli and a 3rd in a heartbeat...

Teams over pay at the deadline. Time is now. Goose doesn't get us a first at the draft.

i think it would be nice to try and get another 1st... but who knows.

It would be nice to make room for Pysyk to stay up for a few more games. other than the goal i thought that he looked smooth and calm out there.. that is what we need..

I agree now is the time when teams are scrambling to get players to make the playoffs. Lots of teams need secondary scoring and we have a few to do that and a few d men to move.
