People crying about Murray taking over for the remainder of the season is interferes ting to me. His teams always made the playoffs here and they usually got to at least the second round. Furthermore when he was here the biggest gripe was he couldn't beat the devils. With this coach he can't beat the debs rags, bruins, lightning and this year the penguins. But lets hold onto him. - JoeRussomanno
He beat the Panthers once!

I don't have all of the answers. But I'd be willing to try these:
Read-Giroux=Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-Hartnell
Talbot-Couturier-Rinaldo
Knuble-Fedotenko-Harry Z
First line is all guys who can both pass and score (despite any recent struggles)
Second line has some skill and some size, but is relativelyslow on the wings.
Third line is a checking shutdown line that can chip in.
Fourth line is basically the spare parts you have and a guy who can kill penalties.
The the press box with Briere. - jmatchett

I had very mixed feelings about the Pronger trade.
I mean, I can see why they woud do it, but I hated what they gave up for a guy Pronger's age. If he didn't get the concussion, his knees would have given out, or his back, or whatever. I hate trading for these guys even if they are Pronger when they are 35.
The Kubina deal was horrible. The Grossmann deal worked out.
Several years ago because their cap management sucked, they had to include 2nd round picks at least twice to dump off players to get cap space. Horrible management. - Marc D
Matt Walker was the salary dump the Flyers had to take back when they traded Gagne. It's hard to believe that the guy they dumped and the guy they had to take back for Tampa to accept the dump are both on the Flyers this year.
I think this year is the last of the Walker contract and the Flyers are done paying penance on Gagne's contract. |

Fair, but how many of those are recently? None. How many of those are post-lockout? None. How many times have his teams reached the playoffs post-lockout? Virtually none.
Your point is valid pre-2005.... I respect your opinion, but I just don't see it the way you do. The game has changed a lot, and those coaches and their effectiveness is dimished greatly with the speed and PPs in today's game. - Flyers_V88
Murray is a dose of what these kids need...they are lacking fundementals of team defense...as far as im concerned i dont give a poop at this point they will not get into the playoffs...i just want them to learn for next year...and get their confidence up again... |

There's plenty of reason to make a coaching change now:
-Break the bad habits
-start the process of instilling discipline
-teach the younger players the importance of two way play
-get an idea who will thrive and who will not under a more disciplined structure and system. - Jsaquella
Do you think Simmonds could thrive in a disciplined system? He worries me, but I'm hoping a good coach could straighten these kids out before its impossible to fix.

What does recently matter? I'm looking for a guy to teach and instill discipline. The Kings players all point to Murray's ability to teach two way play and force them to be disciplined was a major role in their Stanley Cup win.
Also, a major catalyst to their offensive improvement was trading for Jeff Carter.
Murray was brought into LA to teach defense, that's what he did. If he comes here, he's not going to turn them into the 1995 Devils. |

That's pretty much the mindset that took over the fanbase by December 2006 in TSTSNBN. It's the proper course of action. |

He is practically a sure fire 25 goal, 20 assist power forward who can produce more in spurts.. I dont wanna trade him (all though Id be open to anything), and I do believe he can get back to form, but right now he is just playing stupid hockey. - jak521
I'd trade him for Clowe. Same type of player Clowe IMO is a better skater and doesn't take bad penalties but has slightly lower points then Hartnell. |

Rinaldo looks like he imparted his energy to Talbot the last few games. The two of them have looked very good in a season with few bright spots. - Flyskippy
Talbot was the only bright spot last night.
Clearly trying to increase his trade value when he goes back to Pitt.

At least with me, it's the timing at this point. There are only 18 games left and they are very far down in the standings with no positive expectancy to qualify for the playoffs. Also, part of it is an admission by some of us (ok, me) that the players are a bit more culpable than I was willing to allow earlier (although, I still think Lavvy's system/whatever is played out at this point).
I just as soon let it ride. |

Clowe has had two 20 goal seasons. Hartnell generally hits 20, averages almost 25 |

Clowe sucks. He hasn't scored a goal all year and has two 20 goal seasons and has never scored more than 24. |

They can insert Knuble, or increase the ice time of the players who are getting 7 or 8 minutes a night.
I'd rather see Couturier playing more minutes in a scoring line role and be allowed to play without worrying about making a mistake. I'd rather see Talbot or Rinaldo on the wing with Schenn & Simmonds. - Jsaquella
Gagne/Talbot/Read actually have some chemistry going -- hate to extinguish that before it's had a chance to run its course.
Simmonds/Couturier/Schenn wouldn't be so bad.
Scratching Hartnell and Briere probably be appropriate at this point, re-insert Knuble, and call up McGinn. |

It shocks me that people don't take the time to do a tiny bit of research on a guy before deciding what he is.
Murray has always been a coach that sees what his team does well and then adapts his scheme to fit that. |

Something like that. I like that 12-27-24 line. Good mix of speed, two way play and smarts. |

18 games to go. 6 weeks.
An "interim" coaching change would simply be firing PL just to fire him. An interim coach isn't going to accomplish anything in 6 weeks. He'd be a lame duck.
If there is to be a coaching change this year it has to be a permanent change, otherwise just wait until after the season. |

i'm on board w/ any coach who could structure their breakouts better. it all starts there...it's also where LA excelled. |
