An "interim" coaching change would simply be firing PL just to fire him. An interim coach isn't going to accomplish anything in 6 weeks. He'd be a lame duck.
If there is to be a coaching change this year it has to be a permanent change, otherwise just wait until after the season. - Scoob

I disagree. Right now you have a coach coaching to keep his job, not a coach coaching with the best interests of the future of the team in mind.
he definitely could pack it down. Oh beast. thought you said feast. what an amazing list of players the Sharks passed up on to take Falloon. ouch - nastyflyergirl
It's amazing what happens when a team takes the "safe" player with a high draft pick.
The Flyers did it in 1990. Mike Ricci was the safest pick. Jagr went 1 pick later.
1. I like Bryz.
2. He is way down on my list of reasons why this team stinks this year. Way down.
3. I think Bryz is a very good goalie.
4. I'm content with him being under contract long term.
5. If/when the rest of the team starts playing well in front of him I do not doubt that he can be a Cup winning goalie.
There, everyone clear on my stance here? Good.
So, now to the thinking out loud portion of this post...
I got to thinking last night and the thought occurred to me that NJ should really want Bryz. Their two oldtenders are basically done after next season and they don't really have much going for them in the pipeline. A guy like Bryz, who likes a lot of starts and really thrives behind a very defensive minded team, would seem to be a nearly perfect fit there. There never has been, nor will there likely ever be, a trade between NJ and Philly, nor am I advocating one be made here.
1st off, time to fire McCarthy(guy in charge of Defense) This defence is bad but better than they are playing
Give the job to Terry Murray. At least Murray will start getting these guys to play positionally sound hockey, and if they don't he WILL bench them.
Regarding the lines, and barring any trades, I would go with the following next game:
1. Gagne-Giroux-Voracek Giroux will benefit playing with a smart vet like Gagne and Hartnell has just been awful
2. Talbot-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot earned it
3. Hartnell-Couturier-Read
Read and Couturier have had good chemistry in the past, and maybe this
wakes Hartnell up.
4. Fedotenko-Wellwood-Rinaldo
You can replace Wellwood on this line when Harry Z's suspension ends and once they inevitably trade Fedotenko, you can pop McGinn into his spot.
You may have noticed some guy named Briere missing from this lineup. It's time for Holmgren to sit him down and give him 2 options. A. Give me a list of 10-12 teams you would be willing to be traded to, and we will try our best to move you to a contender of your choice or B. enjoy the press box and you'll get your buyout check in June. As lousy as Briere has played, his track record in the playoffs will still probably get some GM to give up a 2nd for him, so lets get it done.
Now onto the D.
Coburn is a mess right now. However there are playoff teams out there such as Detroit that are all but desperate for a defenseman or 2. I'd package Coburn with our 1st and try to land Yandle, We will probably need to sweeten the pot a bit. If they can do that I'd finish the season with the following pairs
I left out Gervais, because as much as he sucks, a playoff team looking for depth would probably move a 6th or 7th round pick for him and move Lilja and Foster as well.
Goal
I give a Bryz a pass for this season, no goalie would look good playing behind this mess and his workload has been ridiculous. That being said, he needs to step it up next year or he will absolutely be a buyout candidate and for the love of god Homer, get a decent backup!

On the other hand, who is going to pay attention to a lame duck coach? Heck, it's likely that a few of the players won't be here next year anyway.
Cooper is the coach of the Norfolk Admirals, and the favorite to take over the Bolts if Boucher walks the plank. Eakins is coaching the Toronto Marlies and is highly regarded. Spott is the coach and GM of the Kitchener Rangers. He also runs the Canadian National junior team - Jsaquella
Norfolk was last season. Now it's the Syracuse Crunch.

Exactly. I'm worried about the youngsters. I'm not concerned about Danny Briere playing better.
Also, you drop hints that it could be a permanent hire in the press without fully committing to it.

I meant he was good in the video game, not the real one. He was definitely a draft blunder.
