Yeah, when a stay-at-home type like Grossmann is pinching aggressively, it's systemic.
- Flyskippy

It's a system that requires being aggressive towards the offensive. It's not limited to pinches. It's the breakout and the resulting gap between forwards and defensemen, it's the "failed" clears that were attempts to hit forwards on the far side of the red line.

The Pens aren't going to trade their best prospects for a 4th liner.

I thought that after seeing what Anaheim just did. Imho it'd be tough to get more than those guys got.

One of the biggest qualms I have with it is that it leave ZERO margin for error... If a board battle is lost.. one short quick pass by the other team and the Flyers are (frank)ed.

Its seems as though there is always about 40 feet between the d-men and the forwards... easy pickings there.

And so the discussion begins about it being Laviolette's "system" that is the problem...I'm so sick and tired of hearing that as the main excuse for this teams woes this season. The defensemen chip the puck off the glass or up the boards to get it out of the zone because outside of Kimmo not one of them can make a decent stretch pass or carry it out of the zone on their own. An OEL or equivalent dman won't fix all this teams problems, but I (frank)ing guarantee if this team had Weber, no way in hell this squad is 12th in the east. You think Lavy coaches the d to pinch when they already have 3 down low? Doubtful...mental errors on idiots like Gervais' part that cause that to happen. It's no wonder he was signed for cheap cause he flat out sucks.

It's one of the reasons I want a change now. See which guys still generate offensive pressure in a more two way system and who adapts well and can be an effective two way player

I thought it was a system that kept the Flyers pinned in their own zone, unable to break out consistently, unable to complete a pass in the neutral zone most times, unable to carry the puck into the zone and dump in and NOT chase every time, and cause an icing twice as often as normal.

Boruk syas he thinks that Giroux's next deal will be 8 years, $71-72mm...my guess is 8 years $60-$65mm
- Jsaquella

I'd say 8 years $64-$68 million...somewhere around $8.5 million AAV

Bill Meltzer, Wayne Fish, and Anthony San Filippo are three I would categorize as "good Philadelphia Flyers reporters."

Sarah Baicker is in the middle. I'm sure I'm missing others.

"Well, I wouldn't say I miss them, Bob."

hate to get into an nba mindset but i cant help but wish they'd somehow acquire a second star forward to take some pressure (and attention from other teams) off giroux a bit

Yes. Our seats on the corner of the Farg allow us to see a whole of lot of FAIL develop from behind Bryz's net.
