Have we firied Lavy, traded all our young core for Luongo, and alienated every Philly fan left who cares about hockey?

He is a rich man's Matt Walker.

He provides the same things as Grossmann and Schenn, and probably at a lesser degree of quality of play. Why would Philly want him, especially at 4.5 mil per?

Agreed. I still think he could do well for maybe Edmonton or the Isles. Edmonton could use the Veteran Leadership and the Islanders could use the Physical D. Those are two things we are not lacking in. He played well in Montreal but never lived up to his contract in Toronto.

For a third round pick, if that’s the price, it’s worth experimenting whether Jagr can get the Flyers over the hump and into the playoffs. Especially for a team which has dangled draft picks like candy over the years.

maybe the fact that they dangle picks like candy is a reason to stop doing it.

I can't see them doing this as much as I love Jagr. It's too late and there's no way Homer is that delusional. If you give a pick and the team magically gets hot..it's still not enough. they need to go 14 and 4 to have a chance. This isn't the blackhawks.

This team isn't making the playoffs why the hell would you start trading away picks? I have to completely disagree with Seravalli.

There's still a shot, but there zero reason to trade youth or picks for veterans at this point. Even if they make it, they're likely cannon fodder for a top seed.

He makes no sense at all. Why would the Flyers even think about trading for a player when they have no chance at making the playoffs?

Dude has no clue for even suggesting that.

I've used a few names, the only one that was not a variation of my actual name was scoopyten, which is a combo of the nickname I was given at age 18 and my favorite number.

Maybe it's obvious but all the talk on the thread is about defense. Their goals per game is down nearly a half goal. They haven't exactly been getting blown out in games. If you turn around 6 games this is a different season.
- mayorofangrytown

Because pinning losses on the goalie comes first, then the defense. The forwards are afforded a lot of slack because they do what gets people out of their seats: score. Even if that's happening significantly less this season.

Per AP:

A court in the Czech Republic has banned eight fans from a stadium for one year for racially abusing Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds in October when he was playing there during the NHL lockout.

Judge Petr Novak at the court in the northern city of Chomutov called Wednesday’s verdict “sufficient.”

Simmonds, who is black, was the target of racist chants while playing for Liberec White Tigers at the Chomutov Pirates on Oct. 28 in the Czech league.

The Czech Republic ice hockey federation has already fined the Pirates $1,500 for the chants. The Chomutov club also apologized to Simmonds.

Just read the blog by Bill. It brings up one real big point to me. The organization needs to rely a lot more on drafting players throughout the lineup. Its getting harder and harder to buy a solid team.

On another note, have we signed the necromancer that is Douglas Murray to save the d-core yet?
