Agree on both counts.

Despite the talent on hand, it hasn't equaled success. We've debated the reasons for that to no end.

This last week or so, it just really sucks. Spent all fall and early winter missing it, and when they return, they're inconsistent enough to where you feel you need to watch and bad enough to where people realize that with more than a third of the season left that the team is basically toast.

But we still get the joy of possibly seeing the team make a desperate last ditch grab to be cannon fodder in round one.

I believe Briere was asked to consider waiving it but that they will not pressure him to do so.

The loyalty and respect is great, but I wish they'd be more proactive in meeting the needs of the team.

I could see that...the flyers really treat players with respect if that player deserves it. Danny is a class act and I dont think anyone would debate that, but he is just not what the team right now. His number is crippling and he just isnt worth that anymore cap hit anymore. Love alot of intangibles but the talent isnt there anymore

Well, any GM that is bluntly honest with the media is a fool. Holmgren's not a fool.

Well with how he handles the cap & stocking the system with talent could suggest otherwise at times.

Yeah, I'm still thinking a lot of that is mandated by ownership.

No, but I saw a story on him on NHL Network. Smart kid, looks really solid as a two way player.

You're probably right, but man, when he pulls the Richards/Carter it's hard not to.

Its due to the day they traded Richards and Carter...It spoiled fans who now think major moves like that are easy, but dont realize how difficult it is to make any move especially now with the salary cap and the uncertainty of where the cap is going in the immediate and long term

True. I think that part of it is, that long term extensions were becoming kind of a beacon light to get traded.

Unfortunately this is where that is going to kill them cause the players who sign to come here now will look at that and demand a NMC, which is totally understandable and as we see this year, when it is time to turn the page and move on from certain veterans it hamstrings us in what we can do

There are too many forwards in this draft that the flyers will salivate over. No way in hell they draft a d man. I don't care either way its just what's happening

I'm sure it is up there the OHL doesn't release that to fans, but it can be had if you ask the right people.

It's BPA, can't focus on the one spot no matter how much I or all of us want a D man drafted.

In 2008, they took Sbisa, despite a couple of highly rated forwards still being on the board. They take the guy at the top of their board in round one, regardless of position.
