Cousins has an assist and looking good winning faceoffs
Nurse has been quiet but decent. |

Thats where my issues lie with him.
Will he be one of those players you expect to lead your team? Or just a secondary guy that is decent in all areas but doesnt really excel in one position.
We will see in time. I'm not a huge fan of the kid yet. - flyer_nutter
I think he has the makings of a leader...but now it is G and Voracek and Simmonds time to surge (and lead), with Schenn and Couturier not too far behind...the window of Cup contention effectively closed when Pronger was downed...if things play out as they should, it should once again open some 2-3 years from now when all these young guys develop and gel edit: and the #1 D hole is filled (imo)... |

It's been a good game for defense & goaltending. Solid playoff hockey. |

I may be leight to the party, but according to Andy Strickland, the Blues have interest in Talbot.
Thoughts? - Rocktane
Depends on what they offer but I see zero need to move Talbot. He's signed through 2016 at a reasonable cost.

Ryan Getzlaff and Corey Perry just signed deals with AAV's over $8mm, prices aren't going down. With the CBA mandated limits, prices are going up - Jsaquella
I understand your point, but....... Both of those guys are playing stud hockey and are in the prime of their careers. I would gladly send those underperforming and aging veterans with 5-6 mil contracts and pay 2 mil more for each of those two. |

It's not a good idea to look a year ahead at the potential UFA pool. By the time free agency would actually start, many of the desirable free agents -- especially D-men -- will have already been locked up in contract extensions and will be off the market. That's the way the league has been going in recent years, and has continued after the lockout.

Regardless of whether he becomes an all star, or just a good player. Why is that cause to have an issue with him? He's shown this Season what he's capable of.

I agree Bill. But some think that one bad season means trade anybody you can. I'd be looking to trade Briere. That's about it. |

I'd love to stock up on picks this year. I have ton of trouble gauging Talbot's value tho.
He is worth more to our team than what the Blues 2nd rounder would be. Not good enough to bring back a 1st.
Talbot and our high 3rd rounder for their mid to late 1st? That would be the cost for me. I think they could find a better deal elsewhere tho. |

At the very least, it seems to be a little more promising (even with possible extensions) compared to this season.
Decent d-men are getting harder and harder to find in FA. |

My issue would start and end with dissapointment if he ended up just being a decent secondary kind of player.
I would have expected a bit more. Whats with the constant trying to stir the pot? Nobody hates Brayden Schenn, or wants to burn down his house. In time we will see what he will be, but as of now he isn't some miracle worker. So defensive over nothing, and just shooting down every topic with questions. It gets old. |

There can only be so many stars on a team. I have no idea why, if B Schenn just becomes a good solid player, why that would be an issue. Good teams, top teams are made up of good solid players. Teams aren't full of All Stars. Schenn, who to this point has only played 92 NHL regular season games. Had a stretch of 16 points in 19 games, before his recent slump. Slumps aren't uncommon for a player of his age and experience level. He's also shown to have a physical edge to his game.
I look at what I see from him now. Every player doesn't have to turn into an All Star to be considered a success. And at this point to have an issue with a player because he might not meet your expectations in the future, makes little sense. |

Claude Noel has quietly done a pretty good (unexpected to me) job with the Jets as well this season. For large portions either Bogosian, Buff or Enstrom have been out of the lineup all season long.
They just really seem to have bought in playing as a cohesive group. Would love to see more of that from the Flyers. Maybe one of those team building trips? - flyer_nutter
I read a Columbus blog after watching a few of their games and agree those players are really playing hard for each other. It seems the CBJ are becoming a true team and everyone is pulling and playing hard for each other. I really don't see that with this Flyers team. Maybe a new coach can instill that- like you are saying about Noel |
