Hodgson was good in Vancouver and liked by the fans. The problem was that he was adopted by the Lindros' parents and AV never trusted him in the defensive zone. If Kass can turn into a 30 goal power forward, it's a good trade for both teams. Right now it's better for Buffalo. Nobody will argue that but let's not forget we're dealing with 20-21 year old kids. - therealagent
Sulzer sticking was something that really swung the trade our way. he wasn't good enough to crack your top-6 but he was a quality top-6 defensemen. |

Dear Sabres,
It's always fun watching us beat a division rival, but please stop winning (this season)..... I want Seth Jones in this year's draft...
I just read an article that compared him to "Magic Johnson" on the ice... And called him a teenage version of Nic Lidstrom...
And he's a big hitting mother at 6'4, 200lbs
Wow...
The hell w mackinnon or drouin...
This was said about him TWO years ago...
This large and still-growing defenseman is a rare package: A shutdown defenseman with tremendous offensive capabilities.
U.S. coach Dean Blais also has been impressed. He's played Jones in all situations, from the point on the power play to the triangle on a few 5-on-3 penalty kills. And never has he disappointed.
"This kid is big and strong and smart way beyond his years," Blais said. "He's good down low, he's strong. He certainly doesn't play like he's a '94 (born)."
Blais said Jones has been so impressive, the coaching staff needs to keep reminding themselves of just how old he is.
"We talked about that today," he said. "We keep saying, 'This kid is only 16.'"

I don't think defense is an area of need as far as prospects, but he sounds like a stud. |

and this is what they are saying about Jones now...
At 6'3", he is already 200 lbs and projects to be a very imposing presence as a first pairing defenseman. Think Chris Pronger and then stop thinking. He will be your shutdown D-man, number one penalty killer, powerplay QB and team captain. You let him play 30 minutes a game and build your team around him.
That sounds pretty Fn good to me! |

We definitely have no one like that. He has experience playing with McCabe as well I think. |

It isn't... But it is...
None of our prospects have any kind of physical edge to their game except McNabb...
Look how well a group of mostly "offensive" defensemen is working out for us now...
I don't want us to have another SOFT group a few years from now & be right back in the same position we are now

They've been paired together on US Nat'l teams
McCabe is a good talent, but he's a "puck mover" type...
Not to say he isn't good defensively, he is
He just isn't very physical
With Jones added, we could have a young defensive corps that could grow into the league's best defense 3-5years from now
Ehrhoff-JONES
McNabb-Myers
McCabe-Pysyk
Yes, please! |

Don't worry we will string some wins together and finish 9th. And pick 12th overall. |

Here we go again. Time to blow that great draft pick and finish 9th. Deja vu. Ground Hog day. Isn't this like 3 years in a row? |

Does anyone even realize that the Rangers only have 71 goals scored forward (the worst in the league)?
And some Sabres fans want Torts here?
That's a big no thank you from me. Let Torts go somewhere else please. I'll take Patrick Roy if Rolston isn't retained. |

Ott needs the C and to be re-signed ASAP. Dude is a machine. Full of energy and a leader it appears. And he is just a weird guy, which is awesome. |

Part of that blame is rightfully on Tortorella, there is no reason for the Rangers to play the kind of defensive style they do if they have an asset like Lundqvist in net. Make the guy earn his money if you are gonna pay him that much.
The second reason for their scoring woes can be tied right to the Nash trade. The Rangers had great lineup depth last season. They got enamored with a big name star again. They don't have the depth they had and now teams can zero in on their top 2 lines, which is more like a line and a half the way Richards is playing this year. Nash is playing well, but the cost to acquire him seems to have bitten NY in the ass. |

Yep....I ultimately think it won't matter. This team winning two in a row and gaining Some confidence scares me. I think we win enough that all this talk of MacKinnon, Drouin, & Jones will be a moot point sadly. We will get none of them. |

End of the year "push for the playoffs" - instead of dumping the old 'core', mediocrity is perpetuated. Two years from now all the Miller apologists can cheer for him as a Red Wing, Duck, or wherever he ends up.... |

He is the definition of leader. Who gives away the fur coat to another player after the game? Steve Ott, that's who. SOB on the ice, class act off it. Even in his interviews you can tell he is a great guy.
Agreed. They need to talk extension this summer.
I swore fifteen years ago that I would never get another name on the back of my Sabres jerseys because the players just don't stick around like they used to.
I have changed my tune, and will be finding myself an Ott jersey (hopefully with a "C" on it for next year). |

Nah. We all know how this will play out. 9th or 10th.
Sure, it would be great to make the playoffs. But this team would die in the first round.
I really wish we could land one of those top 3 kids in the draft. |

So all I read from Garf when Buffalo got John Scott was how Scott had never lost a fight. I've seen him fight 4 times tis year and he has lost 3 of them. And it's the 2nd time this year he has just skated away while fight was still going on. |
